Good analogy in your post.
I don't have exact numbers to help but remember Vice President Cheney saying that it is likely that for the first time in our history we would lose more civilians than soldiers. That has certainly proven true.

Well, look at it this way. It was YOUR day before it was their day. Observe that which needs to be observed. Jesus said, "give honor to those whom it is due." You should be honored on your day.

I'll never forget that morning, seeing the Towers on the tube, thinking..."this can't be happening"
As a Canadian, I wished that we had taken a more honorable stand with your country.

Catspaw...We were up in Door County right after 9-11, and talked to friends of the Olsens. They directed us to thier place, and it was just a humbling time.
The rural mailbox had flowers placed by neighbors and friends. The cottage was so Barbara ! They loved it there, and her remains are buried there. If ever you want the directions, just freepmail me. The place is serene and beautiful, and says so much about who Barbara and Ted were. I mourned for Ted that day as I stood outside their "retreat" place.
The gal who owns THE BIRCH BRANCH, and THE BIRCH TREE in Ellison Bay is the one who talked with me about Barbara. When they were there, they loved to bike through the quaint towns. If you have been there, you know it is Wisconsin's New England. You can't get closer to Norman Rockwell than our Door County.
Somehow, standing there by her house, brought me closer to the impact of that horrible day.

I remember.
Even though I am visiting up here, I worked at two major airports around here, overnight and this morning. The security was definately beefed up, a good thing, imo. Most of those working seemed more on alert than normal. Fortunately, nothing unusual occured in the areas I was in.
I remember reading the first post shortly after 9:00AM EST on FreeRepublic on 9/11 in 2001. I also recall being completely numbed by the accounts.
I remember.

Right on, Brad. I am trying to do my part by taking the names of those lost on 9-11 and scrolling them on a marquee in my politics blog at
http://thebeltway.blogspot.com Thanks to those who posted them in this thread!

If you don't, your own country, sooner or later, will end up having to pay. It may be an attack on Montreal or Ottawa, but sooner or later, if these evil people are not defeated, no country will be safe.

Good morning. whew, what a day. Hard to believe it's been two years already.
I downloaded a really great video and song (Darrell Worley's Have You Forgotten)
It's in quicktime but I'm not sure how to save it. here is the url

If anyone here can help me save this video and song, I'd appreciate the help.

That's wonderful. No, no one called here today. I wish someone would. I feel isolated from the events of today because I'm at work even though I'm right across the street from Ground Zero.
