I said I wouldn't cry either. :( It's hard to look at the smiles. I feel so sorry for those left behind to pick up the pieces.
If I remember correctly, Barbara was supposed to leave a day earlier, but stayed home one more day to have breakfast with Ted because it was his birthday.

My father is a Pearl Harbor survivor & eye witness to that attack
As we watched the events of 2 years ago unfold on the TV all he could say was that it was nothing like what he had seen almost 60 years earlier. That was an attack of a military base. As soon as the arttack started, there was no doubt about who did it. He couldn't, as with all of us, understand how could a groups of persons could try to kill so many innocent people.
All he could say, over & over again, was "they are trying to kill as many people as possible"
I'm so amazed at how many people have already forgotten that day. I know, that as long as I live, I will NEVER forget, ever!. And I'll be sure that my children & some day my grandchildren, will never forget!!!!
