Yes, I hope he does recover soon. I'm sure Rush would put his two cents regarding this same issue.

Well, I was planning on sideline coaching 3 of my fantasy players, but two of the three Bears players are out....Desmond Clark & Marty Booker....tomorrow will be a close FFB game for me! And it's going to be cold at the Space Ship Soldier Field. 45 for a HIGH tomorrow, with a nice wind blowing off the lake. YEEHAW. I'll be sitting in the endzone, so watch for me on TV! :o)

A little "gee-whiz" info in regards to Daylight Savings time....

Benjamin Franklin, when serving as U.S. minister to France, wrote an article recommending earlier opening and closing of shops to save the cost of lighting. In England, William Willett in 1907 began to urge the adoption of daylight saving time. During World War I the plan was adopted in England, Germany, France, and many other countries. In the United States, Robert Garland of Pittsburgh was a leading influence in securing the introduction and passage of a law (signed by President Wilson on Mar. 31, 1918) establishing daylight saving time in the United States. After World War I the law was repealed (1919). In World War II, however, national daylight saving time was reestablished by law on a year-round basis. National year-round daylight saving time was adopted as a fuel-saving measure during the energy crisis of the winter of 1973—74. In late 1974, standard time was reinstituted for the winter period. In 1987 federal legislation fixed the period of daylight saving time in the United States as the first Sunday (previously the last Sunday) in April to the last Sunday in October. Arizona, Hawaii, and sections of Indiana do not use daylight saving time.

I am playing the part of Armistead T. Mason in a re-encactment of the famous Mason-McCarty duel all weekend as part of the "Hauntings" festival in Leesburg. The following from a Virginia travel guide on the internet tells a little about this dual. Note that I "die" in a blaze of glory and I am wearing a cool costume with a top hat. I also make a cool speech before the duel. We use muskets at 10 paces. Had large crowds last night.

"The first house at Selma was built by the grandson of 'Madam Mason,' General Armistead Thomson Mason (1787-1819), United States Senator. General Mason was killed by his cousin and neighbor, Colonel John Mason McCarty, in a duel that grew out of political rivalry. Mason had ignored his cousin's challenge and the affair had almost blown over, when, returning by stagecoach from Richmond, he met his old friend, General Andrew Jackson, who advised Mason not to let the challenge pass. McCarty, who had cooled, tried to avert the encounter by making ridiculous suggestions for carrying it out. However, Mason wrote that he 'was extremely anxious to terminate once and forever this quarrel.' To avoid Virginia's recently enacted anti-dueling law, the affair took place near Bladensburg, Maryland, February 6, 1819. Mason was killed and McCarty was dangerously wounded."
