I don't think that McClintock should drop out because the Ds are going to pull a very hard, very nasty, very devestating "late hit" on Arnold, probably the Thursday before the election, and with no McClintock the Rs will not be left with a viable candidate in the race.

So please, do not think that us McClintock supporters necessarily would prefer to fall on their swords than suffer having a left winger representing their party.

And lets carry this one further - maybe it's the Rs supporting Arnold who are being short-sighted. What would you rather have - a clean shot at Cruz in 06, or having to defend the failure that Arnold will become in 06? Better blow it for Arnold now, teach the establishment we will not be taken for granted, and watch the state burn for a few years and elect a true R, than have to apologize for the inevitable deadlock between Arnold and the hippie legislature and march into battle with an aging, no longer novel Terminator in 06? With Cruz as Gov, W might even pick up the state in 04.

So again, before you you go calling McC people stupid, maybe you Arnold sell-outs should reconsider your own position.

So, are you saying that in order to get "crumbs" that we are to continue the vicious cycle of electing and re-electing the same pretenders over and over? They never change and they always run as conservatives rather than what they really are, which is to say, liberals.

If we continue to do that, these pretenders will slowly achieve the same ends as the democrats albeit at a slower pace and before you know it, something like the "patriot" act pops up from a "conservative" President, Senate and House. Perhaps we don't have to worry about it now, but, consider the clinton types with this under their command in the future. And don't forget the CFR, the obscene New spending spree, Ted Kennedy's "education" bill being adopted, 60,000+ new employees on the taxpayer's backs. (another democrat policy being adopted).

Why am I bringing the National scenario into the equation?

Every vote that comes FROM Arnold and TO McClintock is a net gain of two over Arnold.

McClintock has lost track that the objective is to beat the Democrat, not other Republicans in the field. Even if he could beat Arnold it would be a phyric victory. To govern, you have to beat the Democrat.

The only groups where Bustamante beats Schwarzenegger are democrats and self-described liberals. AS at %40 is within the margin of error with Bustamante's %43 Hispanic support.

What makes you think the Dems don't have dirt on the psychotic McClintock? Wandering the halls of the state capital late at night talking to the portraits of past Republican Governors. "I coulda beat you, I coulda beat YOU, too and I sure as hell coulda beat you."

For openers, Bush is adamantly pro-life, and whatever he CAN do he is doing for the cause, under the obvious restrictions imposed by Roe.

Secondly, Bush has been pretty clear about homosexual marriages--that is, "nope." He doesn't have a solution, yet--but he's working on it.

Third, while Bush paid lip-service to the 'assault weapons' garbage, Bush knew full well that the legislation will not move out of the House. Yes, it's a political ass-covering job--but the results are what count.

Fourth, Bush cuts taxes. Arnie has stated to O'Reilly that he would not RAISE taxes. But later, Arnie promised that he would 'only spend what Cali takes in,' which is a backtrack. Further, Arnie plans on extorting more BIG BUCKS from the Feds (meaning Illinois and Wisconsin, for the dense) to fix Cali's deficit.

If you inhabit any state other than Cali, that's a warning. If you inhabit Cali, one should be asking: "How the hell will Arnie pull that off?"

Bush certainly has spending problems and has not demonstrated any particular backbone on that topic. But on balance, he's supportable.

And he is VERY different from Arnie...

I couldn't agree more! Will never forget Keyes visit to Oklahoma and his trashing of the President in the primary. His I will say "I Told You So" in November when Bush loses is permanently etched in my memory among other nasty things he had to say about then Governor Bush here in OK. Big mistake, this is Bush Country!

He changed my opinion of him alright -- from being someone I respected to someone I detested! His approach was confrontational, in your face, and arrogant all wrapped up together in his radio interview on 740 out of Tulsa and with the rest of his visit. Then he had the audacity to say two weeks before the general election that he supported Pres Bush. A little late if you ask me!

These people calling names are not Republican IMHO! Saying Arnold and Cruz are alike was a dead giveaway to the ones going around saying there is no difference between Republicans and DemocRATs! They can declare themselves Republican all they like, but this lifelong Republican doesn't believe a word of what they type. We were in the minority in the Congress and elsewhere too long to threaten to stay home and not vote if our candidate isn't chosen. That does not happen if you really are a Republican.

Consort said it best when he referred to these folks as the Clinton Conservatives who wanted to teach Republicans a lesson because Pres Bush went back on his promise of "No New Taxes" -- tells me they were DemocRATs all along because no one would have voted for Clinton that had been around Republican politics IMO! Still see that same mantra about Pres GWH Bush on here this week from the McClintock supporters. Then in 1994 when the Republicans did the "Contract with America" all these former Clinton conservatives jumped on board the bandwagon for that election. In 1996, they went back to the Clinton camp to vote since Dole was defeated big time. In 2000, they stayed home for the most part! But they sure want to tell the Republican Party how to operate. They can take a hike IMO -- what have we lost -- people that don't vote if the Republican doesn't meet their standards? We cannot count on them anyways which is most likely one of the reasons today's Republican Party has an outreach going to attract voters from the other groups.

No, Arnold is polling 25-28% of the California electorate and has not been within a country mile of 39% of the electorate as you well know.

The "39%" figure you cited was from a SurveyUSA poll of the California electorate that shows Arnold leading Bustamante. DO try to keep up.

Time enough to deal with Cruz when Arnie, the Trojan Horse, has been dealt with.

You don't have to live out here, so STFU, unless you're pledging your full faith and credit to cover the tripled car tax.

We aren't helping Arnie. When will that register. It is an election. It is not a horse race. It is about principles. It is not about careers, jobs or contracts.

Of course it isn't, because you don't have to live with the consequences of what you advocate.

The intensity of your desire to elect Arnie makes no claim on conservatives to reward their intraparty enemies.

The intensity of your side's "my way or the highway" back-stabbing over the past decade or so gives you and your ilk no right to demand that the MAJORITY of the party--those who are only 50-90% ideologically pure enough for you--to vote for an utterly incompetent candidate who's getting money from Bustamante supporters and does not attack the real enemy, the Democrats.

And it also gives you no claim on the money we choose to donate to the RNC or the CA GOP, it also gives you no claim on our VOLUNTEER work (that y'all shirk in California unless it's an election year and it's easy), and it doesn't even give you any claim on my sympathy if a newly-licensed illegal alien turns a member of your family into roadkill. You've indicated that you favor Busta Rhymes for governor, so you can deal with the consequences of that desire.

You want me to vote for McClintock? Get him to be the GOP front-runner, get him within MOE of Bustamante, and get those two tasks completed by October 7th. Otherwise, STFU.
