The solution you seek is simple, convince the 20% who say they will vote for McClintock that your guy is as conservative as you claim.

Jeez, guy. We still play the Superbowl despite what the polls say.

Remember you have to win his supporters and also remember you get more wasps with honey than vinegar....just be nice to people, state your case with passion and use facts.

Heaven knows, the way you rant, even if McClintock drops out
and you've ticked off his supporters they may not vote. Thereby having your nightmare come true with no one to blame.

It would be nice if McClintock's people would remember this, as well. But I shan't hold my breath waiting for it, because I hear asphyxiation is a very unpleasant way to die.

Yes or no, did Reagan sign an abortion bill and a gun control bill while Governor?

Did Reagan allow homosexuals to stay at his home?

Reagan knew politics is about numbers, getting as much of your platform through as possible and compromising when you don't have a choice. I would never claim he sacrificed his "principles" for following that philosophy... but you guys apparently would.

"Class warrior crap. The usual, coming from you."

Truth hurts. I've seen these cretins at work at my local GOP, and just take a guess how many GOP elected officials we have where I live ? In a county that voted majority for the GOP U.S. Senator and about 40% for the President has precisely 10% of the legislative seats and in the single-digit percentages at the council level (and NO GOP Congressmembers since U.S. Grant was President), the member from the polo-pony district of the county. Heaven forbid they'd get their hands dirty and actually venture out to the rest of the working class districts in town. The horror ! Why bother winning when they're mighty comfortable endorsing our liberal 'Rat Mayor for reelection ?

Because it was her party's candidate that kept Tom McClintock from being elected statewide last November despite being ideologically identical. I choose to be a Republican (as long as it remains right of center).

Shhh ! Careful, don't offer even a slight disagreement with the lead Ah-noldbots or you'll get savagely attacked, too.

Reagan was/is a very interesting person. If you have not checked out "Reagan, In His Own Hand" by Skinner, Anderson and Anderson.

Reagan, like all of us (hopefully) grew into his views over time. He wasn't always the great sage some people seem to think he was/is. He really thought about things. And like all politicians he was forced to take positions on some subjects that were unexpected. For example, concerning abortion, most people might imagine Reagan always had some set position from early on. He really didn't up until the late 60's (page 380 in the book mentioned above. He said that back then "It was a subject I'd never given much thought to and one upon which I didn't really have an opinion". He said this in 1975 when he also said "An unborn childs property rights are protected by law - it's right to life is not".

There are superficial comparisons of Arnold to Reagan. If Arnold wins (doubtful) only time will tell if his thoughts run towards the depths of someone like Reagan. That would be hard to imagine. Reagan was/is so bright.

Thanks for the post :-) I think Reagan was one of the most brilliant, principled politicians this country has ever seen... and I certainly don't hold out any hope that Arnold would come close.

I do know, however, that Arnold also worships Reagan... that enough is to prefer him greatly over Cruz to the Underworld LOL

"Fieldmarshall tell me how Arnold is trying to fool conservatives? He has espoused non conservative issues to the press...."

His attempts to lasso many "Conservative" leaders (from elected officials to columnists) and paying lip service to some of "our" issues in order to grab the Conservative GOP vote. He is trying to say, utilizing these folks, that he is "one of us" when he clearly is not. What I'm shocked at is the level of ignorance (deliberate or otherwise) on behalf of these guys. Watching the usually sharp Ann Coulter babble and stumble over some questions about Ah-nold on some interview show was embarrassing. Getting behind this guy is seriously risking these people's credibility. Set aside all of his political issues, I've got a serious problem with his PERSONAL character. Does someone not see how truly disgusting it is that the lead 'Rat and lead "Republican" in this recall race have openly engaged in racism ? Since when does that earn a pass ? How long do you think McClintock would've lasted if he had said either of what Ah-nold or Cruzie said about African-Americans ?

There you go again!

The topic here is McClintock versus Schwarzenegger and the overriding issue is, who would make a better representative for the conservative Republican agenda in California.

Now defend your candidate and tell us how Arnold matches up on the issues, as they relate to the conservative Republican agenda of the GOP platform.

*Arnold doesn't boldly back tax cuts and spending cuts. In fact, he can't even produce his economic recovery plan for California, until after the recall election. The obvious reason for this is simple. Arnold has no economic recovery plan for California.

*Arnold doesn't boldly back the pro-life position of the GOP platform. Arnold is pro-abortion and that is in direct opposition to the GOP platform.

*Arnold said tonight, that placing the military on the borders to stop illegal immigration is something he'll have to look into. Look into?!

*Arnold wants more gun control legislation for California.

*Arnold supports special rights for homosexuals.

*Arnold opposes Prop54.

*Arnold hired a BIG-TIME liberal Democrat, to test the the waters for increasing California property taxes and promptly got his head handed to him on that issue.

*Arnold wants to increase state tax revenues, so the states social welfare programs will run more efficiently. That's called high minded liberalism.

*Arnold wants to get California out of the red, so its social welfare programs will operate better for the people. More high minded liberalism.

*Arnold won't even debate his opponents. He is running from the debates and instead goes on with Bill O'Reilly for a softball interview.

These are Arnold's positions on the issues. They're not in agreement with the conservative Republican agenda and the GOP platform. Arnold doesn't measure up to the task. Arnold is a liberal (RINO) Republican and an empty suit to boot.

I await you rebuttal.

The solution you seek is simple, convince the 20% who say they will vote for McClintock that your guy is as conservative as you claim.

That's not a solution at all, and it's certainly not what I am seeking. The solution would be for the loser who KNOWS he's going to lose to drop out and allow the only man who can defeat bustamante to do so. At that point his supporters can vote for whoever they please.

Jeez, guy. We still play the Superbowl despite what the polls say.

You're comparing the future of the State of California to a game?! That type of thinking is about as asinine as staying in a race you know you can't win all the while helping the worst of the candidates get in. Here's a hint...it's not a game...it's for real.

Remember you have to win his supporters and also remember you get more wasps with honey than vinegar....just be nice to people, state your case with passion and use facts.

I don't have to do any such thing. I am fully aware, even if you're not, that those who frequent this site aren't going to make or break either candidate. But, for the record, I was nice to everyone, I did state my case with passion and facts, and all I got was called a RINO supporter, a man without principles, and a sellout. What you see is a reflection of what's been coming my way.

Heaven knows, the way you rant, even if McClintock drops out and you've ticked off his supporters they may not vote. Thereby having your nightmare come true with no one to blame.

I could care less if the "vote-for-Mcclintock-even-if-it-means-a-bustamante-win" crowd (on this site) votes as it's obvious they're ready and willing to vote for a loser. There's no swaying that crowd and I wouldn't even try. I'm just stating my opinion with facts to support it. With a little perception on your part you would know that. Then, again, you think this is all a game.

Have a nice day/night.

If Ahnold(or McClintock) can't win the race unless someone else drops out, that person deserved to lose anyway.

I still don't know what Ahhhnold's platform will be. I'm going to tune in to the CA Pubbie convention this weekend.

"come on... you have been throwing it around too."

Throwing what ? Facts ? At best, I'm guilty of biting sarcasm, but I approach this with one who has the expertise of political history here. Ah-nold is so textbook example, I can refute all of these positive claims of him blindfolded.

"Have you ever served on a jury?"

Never had the pleasure. Alas, I'm probably too intelligent to serve on one. Defense attorneys always prefer idiots, just take a look at the O.J. Criminal trial.
