Let's see, he's all for turning over the keys to the treasure to those who want social programs... he just has the common sense to know there's not enough in the treasury to get by.

I know he's not nearly as bad a Bustamonte (in terms of being a liberal), but is he conservative enough for it to be a real gain if he's elected?

If he succeeds, then he's moved the goalposts for all future pubbies (in that they will need to play even more to the middle). And if he fails, then the pubbies will be out for many years to come.

The real problem is that there's not nearly enough conservatives out on the left coast. I used to live there and there's no way I'd raise my kids out there (or waste my time and income dealing with all of the crap out there).

And until things get better on that front, it's just going to be the crazies running the asylum (trying all of their ivory tower 'socialist' solutions).

And all we can do is groan watching it.... and then quote Clinton when they complain: "Seems to me like you need to stop digging when you've dug yourself in a whole." (or some such line)

I thought the interview was worthless because Sean spent so much time on the hypotheticals rather than discussing the issues that are driving the recall. It seemed like a waste of time for McClintock.

I completely agree. Hannity didn't as a single substantive question.

The only question about any issue was something along the lines of, "I interviewed Arnold, and he pledged not to raise taxes except in an emergency. You took a different pledge. What will you do if there's an earthquake next year?"

Tom tried to explain that a tax increase like Wilson's, after his no-tax assurances (of the same type as AS's), actually depressed revenue and that Tom would make sufficient cuts in the first year to have a surplus. Hannity kept interrupting.

Sorry about that - inferring that you said Sean supports McClintock. I added that in because that's what Hannity said in response to a caller as I was talking.

I don't care who Hannity supports; I just thought the interview was terrible because of Hannity's questioning.

That's not entirely the case - in 2000 we learned that rarely - if ever - are absentee ballots counted in California. They count up all the regular votes and, then, if they need more ballots to decide a close race, they bring in LA then other counties, one after another. More conservative counties, like the one I live in, we learned from our registrar, rarely have their absentee counts contributed to the state's official total. Thus I no longer vote absentee and have since gone back to the polling site & will forever more.

If the state was in dem control through and through, what better way to discount a whole bus load of probable conservative votes?

Perhaps the word should go out for EVERYONE to get to the polls on E day rather than mail in a ballot that in all probability will not be counted.

I don't get all this griping about McClintock's tone. He did sound a bit frustrated but probably because Hannity was berating him over whether or not he would drop out. Sheesh...who wants to go on a nationally broadcasted radio station and have to answer question after question about dropping out of a race when the election is still a month away?

Well if you believe THAT poll, than what are you worried about? Why should Tom drop out if Arnold, according you your poll, has a 10% lead and his numbers are soaring? McClintock couldn't possibly be a "McNader" in this situation.

The only thing clear about the polls is that McClintock is not winning enough support to reach the 35-40% he needs to win. Bustamante gets about 30% no matter what poll. Schwartzenneger's percentage is going to depend on whose turn out predictions are correct. If Survey USA is correct than Arnold wins. If the Field poll is correct and you get a large hispanic turnout then Bustamante is the new governor. Regardless of the turnout, McNader is just a loser.
