A POSSIBLE LETTER FROM GOV GRAY-OUT DAVIS TO GOV RILEY OF AL (This is, of course a parody) 9/10/03 MARK A SITY
Dear Gov Riley,
It is so sad what has happened to the children these days, I suppose it is our fault for spoiling them so much over the years. They show absolutely no gratitude for all we have done for them.
I dont understand why they have this need to keep all of the allowance we give them, they seem to not understand how important our work is. Our work is much too important for us to be bothered with finding ways to cut spending. If they cant find a way to cut their spending on unimportant things like food and shelter for their families, why cant they just find second jobs? I know in both our states the farmers are always looking for some extra help to pick vegetables in the hot sun; there are plenty of jobs out there! I guess that is the problem; no work ethic anymore. They always expect government to get by with less and less. But then how can we do more and more for them?
I love your idea of putting all the rapists and murderers back out on the streets; that should scare them back into the flock! Oh, and the idea about a 4 day school week is great too; that will really hurt their allowance if they can only work 4 days!
Hey, I just had a thought. A lot of the kids that voted against the tax hike you proposed are hunters and fisherman, right? How about cutting out any program that benefits them, like stocking programs and such? Just eliminate them. You can use the extra money to harass them on the water and in the woods. Oh, and dont forget to tell them you will be getting rid of cops and firemen, maybe even closing some stations.
After I beat this recall garbage Im looking forward to seeing you at the next Governors Conference. Its in Argentina next time, isnt it? I know we are in different parties, but we do have lots in common. Gezz, Ill bet if the kids had their way theyd insist we have these things in some dismal place like Texas or Wisconsin! How could we possibly think of ways to take better care of them in such a miserable place?
Best wishes,
Gov Grey-Out Davis
Again, I want to stress this is a parody; but it illustrates the view of the tax and spend politicians. When cuts must be made, they are always cuts in areas that are important. No thought is ever made about cutting out the waste, fraud and abuse!
