Can I come over to your place and crap in your yard, steal water from your garden hose spigot, take your car stereo, and just for fun, smash a few windows?

You won't mind if I do that.

Not at all. The police will be pleased to go to your house and arrest you for it. Or do you think I should put up a 10 foot fence with barbed wire and hire security guards to police my yard on three shifts and cower in my basement ?
