Maybe, just maybe that was the plan

Maybe but I doubt it. He had two choices. Be magnanimous in defeat or castigate his constitutents. Being a politican he chose A.

Did you ever stop to consider that maybe, just maybe, it was done on principle?

Well, if its part of the federal interstate highway system, you can seek help from Washington

You know up untile yesterday I would have agreed with you, untile I found out that a sentence in the 1998 Transportation act(when the pubs, were in charge) had been add, that said the state's could give the interstate highway system away.

Among the heathens.

Yes, and I'm sure that played a part in it. I don't think he's faking his passion for his faith.

I do think he intentionally lost the case.

Hey Arnold, if you're still think Warren Buffett's advice will help ya in California, check the above results. No one likes being told they don't pay ENOUGH taxes.

Let's see if Bob Riley now has the guts to follow through and cut spending and restructure Alabama's inefficient and bloated state government.

Hey, not to worry.

Easily done away with by one state SC ruling.

Your state could be next!

Gee, someone just got handed a poll that says that Alabama is Conservative after all!

...Now about this school superintendent of ours who says that he's going to shutter the doors of all of our public schools, what are we going to do?!

"LOL, says you?"

So tell me then...what do you base your support of Moore's candidacy on?

His fiscal policies?

Can you detail them to me?

His thoughts on how to get the State back on financial track?

What exactly are they?

Where can I read those factors that make you support Moore for Governor?

" what are we going to do?!"

First, cut his $500,000 salary by $350,000. Maybe he'll go some where else.

Also, Alabama has the highest paid judges than any other state in the union. We need to work on that too!

"The children will be better off, as most parents will be able to afford good private schools."

A lot of Alabama's children already go to private/religious schools.

This is Super! Congrats to my fellow Alabamians (I was raised in Hunstville). My brother and his wife live in Alabama and I asked her if they voted today. She said it didn't matter, that the Gov't will always get you in the end. I was stunned....and saddened - deeply.

Dang - that stinks. An unintended consequence of giving the highways to the states. Is there an article on this issue somewhere? I'm curious as to what the state has in mind.

I just watched this idiot (Richardson) on channel 8 in Montgomery being interviewed as to why this failed. He said the voters were duped. He said the case of corruption were only "some" legislators, and the earmark thing was a farce because people would still vote against it even if monies were earmarked. What a creep! I'm sorry, but corruption, graft, nepotism, and pork barreling is the very definition of the legislature. And by not earmarking the monies for the schools, specifically teacher's salaries and construction on the buildings definitely had an impact on my vote--no!--which might have changed since I have kids in school. I think he wanted the money for increasing school administrators' salaries.

Anyway, he needs to go home, get some sleep and think about what this vote means for his political policies. He lost, and he can blame the people, but he still lost big.

This is the first time I've heard of this issue and the change in the law. To whom would Virginia give I-81? I doubt that many county governments could afford to repair or rebuild the road. Strange stuff, this.
