Boy killed by two pit bull dogs
The Associated Press - CLAYTON, Ga.
A 6-year-old boy was mauled to death by two pit bull dogs that belonged to his uncle.
Isaiah Alley of Clayton died from multiple dog-bite injuries, Rabun County Coroner Lloyd Hunter said.
The boy had dog bites from his shoulders up, he said. The mother discovered the boy after the pit bulls dragged the boy about 30 feet.
The dogs also charged at the mother. She had to get in her jeep to keep the pit bulls away, Hunter said. She had to wait there about 5 minutes before she could call 911.
The mother had to be sedated, but she managed to talk with investigators, Hunter said. The whole family was devastated.
The incident happened Sunday evening at the uncles house, near the boys home. Isaiah was taken to the Rabun County Hospital at 9:25 p.m. and was pronounced dead at 9:32 p.m.
Hunter said nobody witnessed the attack, but he speculated that have been prompted by the childs puppy.
The little boy had just gotten a new puppy, Hunter said. We do not know this for certain, but we thought the two pit bulls smelled the ham that the boy just fed the puppy.
Hunter said the boy also might have tried to protect the puppy if the pit bulls had tried to attack it.
The dogs are now in the custody of law enforcement, pending a hearing at which a judge could order the two pit bulls be killed.

Leaving a little kid alone with his new puppy on the territory of adult male dogs is crimally stupid. The adult dogs will establish their dominance over the puppy, an often alarming set of events to a child, and maybe the puppy will be killed, but that is not too likely. If the kid intervenes in this process then he has to be able to establish physical dominance over the adult dogs, which even an adult can find challenging. The fault is the mother's. Act as a fool, and get a fool's reward.

How tragic. Here's hoping that the dogs are destroyed ASAP.

Morons. Why do people keep Pit Bulls around? And why do (idiot) people let their children have any chance of being near one unsupervised? With a puppy to boot?

This is tragic. How horrible for that young boy, the same age as my youngest.

Leave the dogs alone and kill the uncle and the people who sold him the dogs. The dogs are not responsible. The owners are.

Easy to say. The dogs belonged to the kid's uncle, who no doubt told Mom, "Shooot, them dogs wudn't hurt a fly." Mom believed her brother or brother-in-law. Not everyone knows the rules about dog behavior. Blame the mother if you wish, but it was these two dogs that killed the boy, not the mother.

Leave the dogs alone
Sorry, they are both responsible. Sure, leave the dog alone. Wanna relocate it next door to your children?
These dogs need to be destroyed, sadly. The responsible humans should rot in hell as well.

It is tragic, indeed. Go search Google news for "pit bull." There are dozens of similar stories there. Then, search for "golden retriever" or "labrador" and see what you find.
I can hear the uncle now, "Heck far...them dawgs is harmless as kittens."

I have nothing agains pit bulls, any more than wolves or tigers. They belong in cages, however, along with other dangerous animals. Lots of dogs nip at people. Only a couple of breeds routinely kill children and elderly people.

The dogs are not responsible. The owners are. Bull!
I'm sure that's a real consolation to the parents who lost a kid.
Pit bull tore the face off a youngster in Tulsa about three years ago. The youngster survived but faces a huge amount of rehabilitative surgery.
I can't tell from outward appearance which pit bull may or may not attack me. And the same goes for Rotts and German Shepherds.
I'm certain that it will be very consoling if that happens to know that the owners are responsible.

Actually, searching Google News for "Rottweiler" turns up a bunch of attacks. Searching for "German Shepherd" doesn't turn up much in the way of attacks, just stories about the dogs serving as drug finding dogs or rescue dogs.
It's informative to do this search on breeds you're interested in. Rotties and Pit Bulls seem to have the lead on attacking humans, hands down.

Obviously the dogs killed the boy. There is plenty of stupidity to go around. In my experience most people who own pit bulls have no idea of what they are doing whatever, and generally the dogs are horribly unsocialized. Many owners get off on how dangerous their dogs are, and do what they know how to do to make the dogs more dangerous.
However, this is not the dog's fault, since dogs are not capable of moral action, and act only from their nature.
