"Elma has dropped back to the Dark Ages," Kathy Shaw, whose daughter is on the drill team. "They are making our kids feel like they're not nice girls when they are."Ms. Shaw continued, "Why, my daughter is so good at picking up after others that her nickname at school is 'Lil Hoover'!"

One thing I noticed while photographing games was that schools varied quite a bit in how daring their cheerleaders were.
The uniforms were pretty much the same but some schools would not let their girls do high kicks or suggestive dancing.
I am so old that I can remember when cheerleader actually led cheers.

Yes, you are right of course. Perhaps it should have read like this: The terrorists (read: liberals) have won.

This stuff all reminds me of Orwell's no sex league or whatever it was called in "1984". The guy was indeed a secular prophet.
We boomers were up to our necks in sex, and have not aged too gracefully. Cheerleaders are a part of growing up. The girls that make the team have looks, athleticism, and obviously status. To make it about their legs or undergarments does them disservice, and the latter in my experience, is as likely to be a set of baggy bloomers as something provocative.
It's a healthy thing. Some people really need to lighten up and look at their own hangups. This society is getting very repressive these days, and the ones leading the repression are a bunch of hypocrites who participated in sex, drugs, rock and roll, free love, wife swapping....and whose disco skirts showed a lot more underneath than a few teenaged cheerleaders ever considered.

Was the ban initiated by the religious extremists who believe that all skin, sex (except for procreation), alcohol, tobacco, driving, swimming, dancing, music, movies, and any other form of non-religious entertainment is a sin punishable by death by stoning, or was it initiated by the man-hating radical lesbian bull dykes, who believe that women ought to present themself as sexless objects dressed in oversized non-descript, non-revealing clothing, and that any man who looks at a woman for more than a second ought to castrated and then put to death by stoning?

Can burquas be far behind? No need to go that far.
This would be just right as far as I'm concerned:

I'd like to know the REAL reason behind this. Was there a complaint that the dress code was not being applied to the snotty, arrogant I'm-Better-Than-You look-down-the-nose crowd? (At least that's how they were when I was in high school... I doubt much has changed.)
I saw the film on the news, and they are short. However, I think it was the slit in the skirt that went up even higher that may be the problem. That said, what the other girls are wearing (low jeans, thongs, spaghetti straps with plunging cleavage-revealing necklines) is much more suggestive and disgusting.
I think all the girls should dress in cheer uniforms. At least then their cleavage will be covered.
