The WHO says the Singapore case poses a 'low risk' to general public health.
SINGAPORE -- Singapore authorities say a 27-year-old man has SARS, the world's first case since a global outbreak was declared over in July.
Singaporean officials confirmed the laboratory technician had SARS after results from a second test were released Tuesday, and have ordered 25 people who have been in contact with the man to stay at home.

Heeeeeere's Johnny! (Jack Nicholson, in
The Shining.)
Just in time for the fall season as predicted by many. We'll see how far it goes this time.

So far, none of them is ill, and it is unclear how the man -- an unnamed post-doctoral student working on the West Nile virus -- caught the flu-like illness. The most interesting sentence in the article.

Without the inflamed lungs, he's likely to recover easily. But is the virus mutating? Perhaps into something less deadly?
Or is this just a fluke?
Regardless, this is probably just the first episode of many. A story all of us wanted to put behind us is almost certainly not over.

But is the virus mutating?Given where he worked, as a lab research guy with virii, one is tempted to ask whether the virus is being mutated.

Are you suggesting that someone would mutate the virus into something less dangerous?

Dunno. But when the only case of SARS turns out to be a person who works with virii, I have a difficult time not suspecting that he caught it at work.
