9 people pulled from waters of Lake Erie All wearing life jackets

DATELINE--Erie, Pa.

A Coast Guard Station Erie, Pa., rescue boat recovered six persons in the water, and a good samaritan recovered three others, after a 30-foot boat broke in two pieces and sank in Lake Erie.

Coast Guard Station Erie received the initial report over channel 16 that the boat from Collegiate Academy had broken in half, and nine persons were in the water near the East Avenue boat ramp. The station's two rescue boats launched immediately and arrived on scene only four minutes after notification.

A good samaritan fishing vessel recovered the first three persons in the water, while a Coast Guard boat quickly recovered the additional six persons in the water.

All nine persons had been wearing personal flotation devices and were recovered in good condition.

The raid was recently conducted following reports that the building serves as a storage site for stolen goods and weapons, as well as a location for counterfeit money production.
