Everyone assigned to a Special Forces unit is not a green beret.
Possibly those you saw have been assigned to a SF unit,
but have not yet earned the green beret.
The Maroon beret is worn by airborne troops.

Airborne, Ranger, and SF berets have to be earned,
unlike the hijacked black beret issued to all non Spec Ops Army troops.

It generally doesn't take to long to ferret them out.

In that part of the WOT that we are seeing little of, I noticed something--the announcement of when someone is "bagged" usually is at least a week after the bagging. This tells me that the baggee had some sleepless nights listening to Metallica and Barney and talking when the music goes off....
