The FBI is trying to find two men to question in connection with the bombing death of pizza deliveryman Brian Wells on Aug. 28. Officials released composite sketches of the pair -- one a muscular black man and the other a white man with straight hair -- at a 30-minute news conference today. The FBI has not called the men suspects, but said agents want to question them because they were seen running in the area around Peach Street and Interchange Road at the time of Wells' death. The FBI today also said that Wells carried a multipage note that told him where to go after he robbed the PNC Bank branch in the Summit Towne Centre on upper Peach Street. Wells robbed the bank and got to one of the designated locations -- a McDonald's near the bank -- before the bomb locked to his neck exploded at 3:14 p.m. The other locations were the woods near the northbound ramp of Interstate 79 at the Interchange Road exit; the woods near the McKean Township sign in the southbound lane of I-79; and the Grubb Road overpass in the eastbound lane of I-90. The FBI was to post the photos of the two men on the FBI Web site no later than Tuesday. The sketches will appear in Tuesday's Erie Times-News.

I am convinced the guy (who blew up real good) was innocent. If he were any actual part of this robbery plan, he wouldn't put a real ticking bomb around his neck and then have no idea how to disarm it.
If this guy were in on the plan, there would be no need for an actual bomb, just a collection of hardware and lights that would terrify a bank teller and security guards. A real bomb would be a tremendous liability and unnecessary.
Nope, this guy was set up by some cold-hearted dudes. Unless there was any physical evidence on the guy or the bomb, it will be really tough to find them, too. And these cold-hearted dudes will likely try something again.

If you guys thought Erie couldn't get any stranger... Last night some guy accidently left a box outside of a bank. So the bomb squad got called in and blew up the box. It wasn't a bomb, but a box full of Christmas decorations. So the local paper showed a picture in the headline featuring the mangled elves and santas all over the sidewalk.

Maybe they were running because some guy was screaming that a bomb was about to go off. Or, because they were about to rob a liquor store when they heard the sirens.

The guy on the right has walnuts stuck in his cheeks. Or he's getting ready to spit.

Interesting, a pizza guy would be good at following directions to strange rendezvous places. And really, who else can you call to drive out to an unknown, nonexistant location with no explanation, but a pizza guy?
The first part of their plan, to use the pizza guy as their dupe, was actually pretty brilliant. However the plan obviously suffered in the execution. They must have known that in the event the cops nabbed the pizza guy, he would blow up, possibly taking some cops with him.
Hence I am back to my original feeling: these are some truly cold-hearted dudes.

It's extremely strange for anyone to be running in the area mentioned in the article. This is an extremely congested area of gridlocked traffic. The only walking I've ever seen there is from your parking space to the restaurant/hotel/store, etc. back in the plaza and mini-mall areas. Funny there's a sketch of John Doe #2 when the gov't. insists he never existed.
