LOL, too late.
But just ignore the ping.
No guilt. No guilt at least about being or not being at Freeper's Finest. Guilt about being Fallen, yup. But no guilt about this stuff. That's my motto.

No more cable and I hadn't heard a thing about it. There was something on PBS tonight (Monday), but I got so upset I couldn't watch or listen to it.

I was living in Savannah Georgia during most of the Vietnam war. They trained the 'copter pilots and Hunter Army Airfield.
I met a lot of them socializing and over the years dated three. Peter Chilko, Bob McKiernan and Tom whose last name I cannot remember, but he was a WO and trained both Pete and Bob. I have never found out what happened to Pete or Tom. The last I heard from Bob was a returned envelope marked MIA. All three, plus the all of the others who either dated friends or married them, all remain in my prayers. They were and are special people.
As were the many wonderful marines that I met while married to a Jarhead. You don't marry a Marine, marry the Marine Corps.
Semper Fi, y'all.

The helicopter pilots of the Army are a very close-knit community. Particularly in the Vietnam era. No matter where I was stationed there was always someone I knew. It made the Army almost like family. I was a TAC officer at Fort Wolters, TX and Fort Rucker, AL for 5-6 years plus a UH-1, OH-58, and CH-47 instructor pilot at Fort Rucker off and on for several years. So I had a chance to train a great many Warrant Officers, either how to be a Warrant Officer or how to fly. Even to this day, 15 years since I've retired I maintain correspondence with a couple of them. It was a good life, I truly enjoyed it.
