That's the strategery, alright. ..I think it was sheer brilliance. My hypothesis: the terrorists are macho and radical enough to fall for the bait, the dare to their machismo, and gather in one spot... over there. Can you imagine if we had to deal with those daily attacks here every day? I think Bush's challenge (which the Demons decry as bullying) was by design. He knew the magic words, knew he'd be degraded and mocked by the liberals and his adversaries, but he swallowed his fear, gathered his courage and stepped up to the plate, waiting for all the vermin to crawl out of their holes ... there.... where we have half a chance of exterminating them. He is a brave man.
Our military .. our brave, wonderful military .. they are our shields, protecting us from the battle that would be here if not for their self-sacrifice and willingness to give themselves up for America and our survival. This is a just and righteous war, and I weep for those putting themselves in harm's way, standing in the breach, trying to save us. I weep for their families and loved ones. The end of this struggle is yet to be written.. but we are where we must be, doing what we must do, the mission of our time. NEVER FORGET .. NEVER stop praying.

Great speech as usual. I couldn't sit and just fixate, though...was cooking a late dinner. Waiting for the Monday morning quarterbacks on the network news to add their 2 cents.

Watching half is not equivalent to not watching at all. You embellished a little there. And the transcript is available.

I have the same frustration with the media AND congress.

I embellished a little?? I suppose you could interpret it that way, if you want to be his apologist, but he said he turned it off half way through.......and that is NOT watching the speech.
To paraphrase your own quote.....watching half is NOT watching all.
Ya think he read the transcript, though?? :o)

I also appreciate this President not responding to the "9 nattering nabobs" who want his job, he stays focused on the objectives and the mission at hand and ignores them for the whiny little ankle biters they are.
With him ignoring them, the everyday ordinary americans who want their president to defend this country and not get entangled in a silly pissing contest that serves no purpose other than division when what we need most in this time of war, is unity. Shame on those desperate dems for offering nothing but useless juvenile one liners that will ensure the landslide that's coming in November 2004

Bumping Barbara Olsens books in her memory!!
"Hell to Pay" The Unfolding Story of Hillary Rodham Clinton. I just ordered it AGAIN (because I can't find my old one) in her memory from Amazon.com
PLUS they have her other book too. I ordered the paperback. The prices were really good.
The Final Days: The Last, Desperate Abuses of Power by the Clinton White House. By Barbara Olson
It was wierd reading some of the pages of "The Final Days". If only Barbara had known that the abuse of power, that the neglect and ineptness of the Clinton years she wrote about, would ultimately lead to her own death. How sickening it all is. I feel so ill from just reading Barbara's words and having it all become so fresh in my mind again.
Goodnight FRiends.

Latest WPost blather is already out from by Dan Balz:
Excerpt:
........."But he is on the defensive over Iraq now, just as he is on the defensive at home over the sluggish economy, which continues to shed jobs despite the latest infusion of tax cuts. The irony is that, if there was anything White House officials and Republican leaders assumed, it was that Bush's strength as a wartime leader would be a major political asset in his reelection campaign, offsetting persistent public concerns about his handling of the economy.
That may well continue to be the case, but only if the progress the president and other U.S. officials have promised in Iraq and the Middle East becomes a reality before too much longer. Whether Americans are ready for the kind of expansive commitment that the president described last night is an open question. The president can blame himself for some of the unease that now exists in the country -- including within his own party -- about his Iraq policy. At the time of the war, he was encouraged, even by some who supported the invasion and the goal of deposing Saddam Hussein, to lay out in detail the potential costs and likely sacrifice the mission would entail............."
