You mean the Christians of the Inquisition?
There is no Inquisition in the Gospel, not even implicit. There are straight calls to lie, decieve and kill infidels in the Kuran

Thanks for that post in #890! You are quite right!
I also don't agree with everything he has done in the domestic front, particularly the education bill. However, that is no surprise to me, since it was something he talked about all through the campaign.
I voted for President Bush because of national defense, which I knew he would be strong on. I also voted for him because I saw in his many campaign appearances that he was an honest person who really loved people and the country.
He has turned out to be better than I expected, in so many ways. I thank God every day that he is leading us through these dangerous times.

I'm dying of curiosity. The post was pulled. Bush's use of the word "servicemembers" instead of "servicemen" in his speech.

"...but this 87 billion to rebuild two nations for 50 million islamics?"The cost of 9/11 to New York City alone is over $83 billion...and rising. I can't find the total economic impact to the nation. We are paying to rent a battlefield if that makes it any easier on you.
"Iraq he says, has 60 thousand border guards, protecting them against Iran...Where's our border guards for staying the daily flow of 10 thousands of illegals on our southern borders?"
Two things, that's insulting to our border guards who are out there every night doing their jobs. If you must, call for more of them, but don't ignore their efforts. While I recognize the issues surrounding illegal immigration, they are far from being anywhere near the same as the situation over there.
"...and why would or should WE cut OUR programs?"
Well, so that people woudn't be coming here illegally to abuse them just like the native-born abuse them?

I didn't pay much attention to George W. Bush early on in his campaign for the presidency, but around March of 2000 I started paying close attention to him and I could see he was a moderate conservative. If 50 was the middle on a scale to 100, I would classify him as a 65. I have lived long enough to know that a true liberal or a true conservative will NEVER be elected in this country. The best we will ever do is have a leader who changes the general direction of the country when it comes to domestic issues. But we are extremely lucky when we have someone like Bush who changes the direction of the country while exhibiting axtrordinary leadership when it's needed most, and after 9/11 he has been an extrordinary leader

I have served under six Presidents and consider it an Extreme Honor to serve under President George W. Bush. So does our son, who wasn't even BORN until Ronald Reagan was elected President........ the SECOND time!
But he is PROUD to be serving in Iraq in the best military in the WORLD, under a strong and caring Commander in Chief!

We used to know this. Somewhere along the line we forgot it.We have had some help in forgetting it, especially lately when so called American servants have been attacking this war on terror for their own political gain putting us all in jeopardy.
I wish the President would have just said that the Clinton administration's policies of appeasement brought us Sept 11th. I know that is what he meant, and they have no qualms about attacking him personally.
Excellent post btw.

Kissinger had very high praise for Bush's speech. He also said that any countries that might have a problem w/something about their cooperation, that we should listen but we should stick to our guns and purpose in Iraq.

The President's speech will go down in history as one of the great ones, alongside Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. He was clear and inspiring. God bless him.

Rush has been calling them the "Jihad All Stars". Rush said it was a brilliant strategy - when Bush said, "Bring 'em on". It was a direct invitation for them to come and try to take us in Iraq. Why ..?? Because they would feel less vulnerable there - their own territory so to speak - and therefore the terrorists would think this was going to be the place where they would be able to finish us off.
The only problem is - the terrorists misunderestimated America AGAIN!! The terrorists not only ARE NOT WINNING - they are slowly but surely being killed or captured.

No but I've heard a few 'pubbies' as you say call for signing CFR, spend 800 billion for healthcare 'reform', promise 15 billion for AIDS in Africa, and expand the non-defense budget over 19% in useless unconstitutional spending.
Point billbears.

What I love so much about the speeches of Lincoln and Bush is that there is no histrionics, no great attempt to sound grandiose, no embedding meaning in layers and layers of extra words and allusions.
It is always the unadorned truth presented in simple, direct sentences. The majesty of the style lies in its simplicity.

But we are extremely lucky when we have someone like Bush who changes the direction of the country while exhibiting axtrordinary leadership when it's needed most, and after 9/11 he has been an extrordinary leader. This is SO true, Mike. And what I think is missing in his not-conservative-enough critics, is the ability to even SEE the direction the country is headed in, let alone appreciate it.
There has been a tectonic shift in this country's values......not only because of 9/11, but because of the leadership of George W. Bush following 9/11.........but the hyper-conservatives are so tunnel visioned that all they can do is whine about the things they don't agree with.
