ANALYSIS: Both of the budget ads center on the claim that the state is spending $29 million a day more than it takes in. Supporters of the recall blame Davis for bungling the budget and leaving the state with a record deficit.

To which Davis claims the 11 to 12 Billion dollar figure was "what the independent auditor told me" and "anyone can see the books".
Now logic rears its ugly head here...if the Auditor cannot tell the difference between 11 and 38 Billion, first thing we must do is fire the Auditor. Second, we must Audit the books...
As far as what Arnold said in the ad, two things are important to look at.
1) The only known situation was last year (and he is obviously projecting that onto this year).
2) If the 11 to 38 Billion deficit was on the books last year, it is apparent that the book(making) process is very fluid...probably has something to do with contributions...
