I just finished reading "Heart of a soldier". If you haven't read it, this would be a perfect opportunity to do so.
It is about Rick Rescorla. He was a hero of the Ia Drang and both terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

Rick Rescorla. He was a hero of the Ia Drang and both terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Indeed he was. You neglected to mention that he was killed in the second WTC attack. He was in charge of security for one of the larger tenents of the building, and got all or virtually all of his people out, but went back to "be sure" and to help other folks. Last seen heading up the stairs, IIRC. He was a Brit by birth, but an authentic American Hero, nonetheless.
I read that he had his folks doing evacuation drills well before 9-11, and it paid off. I imagine that made him popular with the cubical bound..NOT, but I'll bet everyone of them now wishes they could thank him personally. He ordered an evacuation of the second tower to be hit even after the port authority officials told people in that tower to "stay put" after the hit on the first tower.
