Thanks so much for your work, Sonar. I only saw that angle mentioned on FR's California board earlier this week. The news media never mentioned this angle, and they probably never thought about these issues in their excitement for SB60. If Tom hadn't examined that angle, and obviously it was never discussed in the legislature or he would have examined it, I'll bet none of the other legislators thought about it, either.
I hope the democrats don't "fix" this inconvenient problem by making firearms purchases even more difficult for lawful CA residents.

Here's an interesting idea: McClintock for US President.

My fear is that now that this bill has been signed into law, they will enact more laws for law abiding citizens instead of removing SB 60 Like, gun bans? Which of course will be justified by the possibility of illegals perpetrating fraud. I can hear Feinstein now.
There's one other unintended consequence of this outrage. It means that on January 1, all 100 million citizens of Mexico will be doing everything they can to get to California to get a license, because that license will mean de facto U.S. citizenship. Since something like 70% of all Mexican citizens have relatives in the U.S., and a significant majority of those are in California, getting an address to put down will be no problem. And the law explicitly allows the Matricula Consular card to be used for identification.
That means that virtually any Mexican national will now be able to get a California license, whether here for a day or the last 30 years.
By the way, if you talk to McClintock again, point out to him that the battle cry of the anti-187 gang was that "a state can't make an immigration law". 'Member that? Well, it would appear that the people who said that then are now the same people who just passed one.
Maybe some Republicans could get a clue and point that out.

Such a nice post.
When I spoke with Senator McClintock, I had him for the longest, and the press had all their microphones and cameras at us.
Fantastic grassroots work Sonar5. I hope you had your picture taken with the next Governor of the great state of California too. With the referendum Tom has mentioned to put SB60 on the March ballot-this issue is yet another for Tom to shine.

What an underwhelming crowd in a state with some 13 million registered voters.
Gary Coleman would get a bigger draw.
