Islam is not compatible with "freedom" they way the term is used in the West.

Both cannot survive globalization.

In a hundred years, if the world is globalized to the extent that it is today, either Islam or freedom will be a distant memory.

Great post! I have had The True Believer at the top of my book pile since the summer. I printed this post out am about halfway through. I'll finish it before the weekend is up and respond, but for now it is time to trim the hedges. Do you have any links to Fromm's compelling biography?
