Unwanted Graphics On The "My Comments" Page

Hi all.

We had a visit from another disruptor, who has decided to grace us with postings of a rather vulgar image (to put it mildly).

We have received a few mails from people asking if we could delete the picture from their "My Comments" page. At the moment, we cannot. In the interim, what you can do if one is in your "My Comments" page is to set the "My Comments" page to "brief" rather than "full". This will hide the content of the posts, thereby hiding the graphic. To switch the setting, just click on the word "Brief" near the top right of your "My Comments" page, or click here.

Additional advice: those who have Mozilla browsers can "right click" on the picture and select "Block images from this server". Next time the page is reloaded, you don't have to look at that garbage, just a nice blank spot.

If the picture was hotlinked to another server and that server goes down or the file is deleted or moved, the little red x will appear, happens occasionally.

I wonder how whichever disruptor posted this came across this thing? Just goes to show what sort of company the trolls keep. And what sicko disgusting people there are in the world.

When I first joined FR (eons ago) I started a Thread on a BOOKNOTES episode that I had carefully transcribed the comments and questions of for an hour. If my memory serves me right it was a book that had to do with the Bataan Death March and the trreatment of the US POWs by the Jappers.

It was pulled because I "hadn't been a member long enough to start a Thread".

Just goes to show you that "at times" the ultra-right can out do the left in stupid moves ....

thank goodness this bipartisan disorder is mainly on the left though!

Well, just to give you a hint, it's a coprophilia pic. A troll going by the name of coulterfan blasted several threads with it. The pic only had a life of a couple of minutes before the post was deleted, unfortunately I happened on that thread before the adminmod. Absolutely stomach turning.

There have been some threads posted from other sources that indicated that FR would be the target of troll posts. As the election 2003 (and 2004) approach, expect to see much more "moderate Republican" traffic here.

I'd advise FReepers to not be afraid to speak their mind, don't let the DNC and Greens control the talking points.

Know too that there are a number of active "sleeper" accounts dating back to at least 1998 that still get called into active duty. Just because an account has an old signup date does not mean that it isn't a DUsrupting troll.

The press has given Free Republic a lot of exposure, with exposure becomes visibility (and FR becomes a visible target). The left thinks that FR is an arm of the GOP and that we come here to get our marching orders (they've said both). They don't get it; they are of the mind that if they come here they can turn us into McCainiacs by trash talking President Bush, the economy, and campaign finance.

Can't FR block IP adresses of trolls? This way they cannot re-register under another name.

I remember lurking on Hillary.org once and someone began posting photos from rotten.com. One after another until the site melted down. (Wasn't me...)

Maybe I'll go and post it on DU... nah, I'm too mature for that. But if I were to post a photo like that, there's a smarter way to really get them good.... but I won't print it here.

Well, it ain't poppin' up on my "My Comments" page... so: either I (apparently) owe the ever-vigilant Mods a vote of thanks, or else my anti-popup software works far, far more effectively than I'd ever dared hope to dream!

Just tell me this much, though: is it grosser than (say) a nude "Penthouse"-type photo of Andrea Dworkin...? :)
