BOGOTA, Colombia (Reuters) - Colombia's state prosecution service said on Thursday British police had seized $7 billion in securities from a drug-trafficking ring in London. If confirmed, it would be one of the biggest confiscations of criminal goods in history.
British police also seized 7 million pounds in cash and securities, ecstasy tablets and amphetamines, and made 10 arrests after receiving information from Colombia's Technical Investigation Department, or CTI, the prosecution service said in a news release.
The British Embassy in Bogota had no immediate comment and in London Scotland Yard said it was unaware of any such arrests or confiscation in the London area. No one could be reached immediately at either the National Crime Squad, which oversees drugs raids across the country, or at Customs and Excise.
"Information provided by the CTI to the British authorities permitted the seizure in London of $7 billion worth of securities," the Colombian release said.
The sum confiscated was confirmed to reporters by the CTI's director, Guillermo Ortega, who referred to the "the figure, not to be sniffed at, of $7 billion."
Two suspects have also been arrested in Colombia and another two in Ecuador, Ortega said, providing no details of what type of securities had been seized.

I wonder if this will link back to last November's seizure of $8 billion in securities being transported by the old Miami Vice star Don Johnson.
