Last and quite possibly least is our Song Most Likely to Be Ignored by Downloaders Award, which goes to the mysterious Mitch of Burbank (who asked us to withhold his last name for fear of losing his job), for the composition "Wreck of the Cruz Bustamante," sung to the tune of Gordon Lightfoot's "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." Unfortunately, like the original dirge, Mitch's parody is interminably long, so we have room for only a few verses:
The legend lives on from the Pechanga on down
Of California's first mate Bustamante
A tax-hiking swine, Cruz sure looked as refined
As Quixote astride Rocinante.
...
The news on the wire set his ambitions afire
As the recall broke past Davis' defenses
Every Democrat knew, as Cap'n Davis did too
Californians had come to their senses!
Thanks to everyone who entered and to our judges, who, like Mitch, requested anonymity. If you think your joke should have won, feel free to circulate a petition to have this column recalled.

.....which goes to the mysterious Mitch of Burbank ... Hahahaha! Well they do indeed have a sense of humor.
Wasn't it Johnny Carson who always made the funny references to Burbank? He'd have a ball with this one.

For once we agree. Good to see you picking on the biggest enemy (in a number of senses), el Gordo Cruzo.
After those two songs (the other being the rap parody of "bust a move"), my muse temporarily has left me.
But I just want so badly for Cruz to get his butt kicked. Figuratively ... I think. He is just the absolute worst about ostensibly mainstream American politics. He OUGHT to be self parody, but in California there are so many leftists that few get the joke.
I still think he needs a proper Indian name. "Dances With Slot Machines" is the one tossed out casually in the LA Times article. Any suggestions?

Yes we do agree, I got in a "discussion" with a couple of [knee jerk] Democrates at work about his La MEChA links, and their similarities to the Klan.
Would you believe they were trying to make it sound like La MEChA were the Mexican mafia? Like they were Networking or making dirty money? I was stunned. They did NOT want to talk about this as a racist organization. I was grilling them, and they just wanted it to change the subject, and they were walking out the door at the time.
This topic is golden. Confront your Democratic friends.

True. But this is just funsies. (I think my prize is a big scented candle. Seriously.) And the "Recall Madness" columnist, Roy Rivenberg, is refreshingly non-PC, trust me. We've exchanged numerous emails, and he either is no leftist or has the best left-on-left sense of humor I've ever encountered.
