To expand, many services I've seen don't offer FOX News on their basic plan. If you want conservative perspective you must pay for it.

Add me to the "I can't stand Olbermann" list. Has his show been cancelled? No, but give it time. No matter how badly they want to, it is near the point where MSNBC literally cannot afford to keep Olbermann on the air, because his ratings are so low as to be nearly unmeasurable.
My guess is they'll give him till the first of the year and then yank his butt. That is, unless there is some sort of gigantic news event between now and then (like another 9/11, for example), in which case he will disappear instantaneously and never return. MSNBC has used that trick in the past in order to yank horrible shows off the air, when the public is so wrapped up in some huge news story that they forget the old show even existed. (Anyone remember The Mitch Albom Show? Not after September 10, 2001, you didn't!)

Actually, the only show I watch on MSNBC on a fairly regular basis is "Scarborough Country" at 10pm ET, so I wouldn't know if Mitch Albom was still on or not. I remember seeing him on MSNBC during the day on weekdays, back in the days before our cable company carried Fox News.

How are the Imus ratings? He insults his bosses at MSNBC, and I'm wondering why they put up with it.

Aaron Brown's soporific monotone is the TV equivalent of NyQuil.Lol....when I moved to Seattle, in 91, he was a anchor for one of the local networks. They made a big hoopla about him moving to New York and I was all "Whew, I'll never have to listen to him again."
A few years later: BAM!
Ug.

Exactly what "actual news" have you missed on Fox News?
Be specific.

It's not a "conservative message" that Fox News uses to report the facts.
Sure, they have more "conservative" pundits than most others. So what? How is it more "conservative" to report the movement in the stock market for a certain day? Those are just plain facts that even CNN reports.
But unlike CNN and others Fox doesn't report, "The Dow Jones was up to it's highest level in 2003 which shows the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer". They just tell you the numbers. And don't laugh, I've seen CNN report things about that bad.
And unlike "liberal" networks Fox just evens the playing field so instead of 4 left wing morons vs. 1 "moderate" conservative like David Gergan (PBS, ABC) they put 2 "conservatives" up against 2 "liberals".
Colmes gets just as much time as Hannity to talk to a guest. Speical Report's panel usually has one conservative like Fred Barnes versus one liberal like Juan Williams or Mara Liasson (both NPR bores) and they then throw in a wimp like Mort Kondrake or Cici Connely (she is kinda cute though) or the bald, moustached one whose name I can never remember.
And unlike CNN, they use real journalists (or so-called journalists in Kondrake's case) instead of two "conservative" journalists (Novak, Carlson) versus two DNC and Clinton hacks in Begala and Carville. And poor Tucker had to have a week with Garafalo?
I agree the "conservative" message is more positive and optimistic (and clearly more open minded since the left is stuck thinking they are enlightened with ideas that were stale 50 years ago) but I don't think Fox News is promoting an ideology or agenda.
They have just, for the truly first time, given the conservative side equal access to make their case.
This is why the left calls Fox News "right wing". They are the ones that use the "news" to shove their ideology down the throats of the masses that, before cable and the internet, had NO CHOICE but get basic news from the left leaning press.

It's also probably because the cable company sees the audience for both CNN and FNC as being "news viewers", and so figure that people watching FNC will also be interested in a show on CNN. Really, their job is to get you to keep cable, and they figure by sporadically showing house ads for shows that - they figure - would get a similar demographic to the one that you are watching now, you're more likely to watch cable vs. network tv, and thus more likely to keep cable.
The problem is that CNN's and FNC's primary demographic isn't "news viewers"; its liberals and conservatives (respectively). Most CNN viewers wouldn't tune in to FNC - they'd be better off cross promoting MTV or Queer Eye. Similarly, they'd be better off cross-promoting the history channel, one of the family friendly channels, or something like that on FNC.

To #23, I think far more Americans "give a rip" than 99%. I'm among people with very strong opinions. And it's the nightly news channels that just present more opinions. I'm more interested in the ping list of Ragtime Cowlgirl who gets the scoop right from Iraq and our troops/Centcom.

I have to disagree w/ part of your post. I know the might have been a few seconds behind CNN with the news of the blackout, but while CNN was showing a still shot of the Brooklyn Bridge, FNC had interviewers on the ground, and all sorts of coverage. Also, Fox did not immediately blame the blackout on the Bush admin.
