It's always amazing to me when the rants come out and the blame is not placed on who the people who did this, the democrats.

Why blame them. They are playing politics. That is what politicians do. You never heard the Dems complain and whine about not being able to pass legislation or get nominations through when THEY had a majority (even of +1). They knew how to be a majority party.

Don't blame the 41+ Dems who out-manuevered 51 Pubbies. Applaude them for THEIR strategery. It worked. It worked because Frist and the Pubbies didn't have the will, the intestinal fortitude, the cajones, the backbone to stop them.

More power to the Dems--they won--41 Dems beat 51 Pubbies.

Thanks for proving it.

You're the one who got all upset when I stated that the blame should be on the democrats for filabustering the nomination.

And how do you stop them when the demo's decided to throw out 200 years of Senate precedent(not filabustering Judges).

What would have you done?

Frist had at least 2 major options:

The nuclear--Using VP Cheney in a procedural battle. Too scary for the cowering Pubbies.

The real 24/7 filibuster. Too taxing for the fragile Pubbies.

So, Frist succumbed to his only other option: To whine about the mean ole Dems.

Who has the majority? 41 Dems? Yep! Seems that way. 41 Dems WHIPPED 51 Pubbies in this battle.

Moron! There was no filibuster!!!! Huh, I guess you didn't read the article.

by Ted Kennedy and Hillary Rodham Clinton, who are orchestrating the first filibusters of appellate-court nominations in American history.

Of course there is all the possibilty that you follow the Hoverbug reading system, where you read what you want to read.

see #27. There was a filibuster lite, but no filibuster. You don't know what you're talking about here, and you display it with every post you make.

You obviously believe everything you read.

What is the nuclear option? Please flesh that out.

Second a real filabuster is easy for the demos, they only need one person to keep on talking and that person has could be replaced by another, while the Pubbies I beleive have to 50 people there at all times, in case the demo calss for a vote.

But what the hey you can cheer on the demos for breaking 200 years of precedant.

Dane, you are nitpicking. There was no real filibuster. A real filibuster is putting a Senator on his feet 24/7 until either he gives up or the floor (Senate majority) withdraws.

But, so they could hide the proceedings, somewhere along the line the Senators approved a "filibuster of convenience"--a couple of hours every couple of weeks, the mean ole Dem could talk for a hour, they would vote (Pubbies lose), and go on with regular business. That is not a filibuster in its true sense. The Pubbies couldn't even force a true filibuster.

While I realize the left-leaning press in this country was fond of (mis)characterizing the Senatorial shananigans of the past two years-plus as a "filibuster"... the other posters are correct. This was no "filibuster," in any meaningful, historically accurate sense of the term.

Again, I point out: we had a majority in the House; a majority in the Senate; and the Presidency -- an unbelievably rare political trifecta -- and you're saying it's in any way, shape or form reasonable (or even explicable) that we can't get ANY jurist to the ideological "right" of (say) Teddy Kennedy confirmed...?

Never stopped the Dems from getting their people confirmed... and WITHOUT, I might add, the clear numerical superiority we presently enjoy, to boot.

Either they (the Dems) are god-like and superhuman and unbeatable in combat... or: our guys dropped the nall, plain and simple. Which is it...?

Did you read this from the article?

The rout will continue so long as Senate Republicans would rather lose on nominations than sacrifice a night's sleep by forcing Democrats to keep talking on the Senate floor or otherwise playing as rough a political game.

Pretty selective reading you're doing.

Like I said before, a real filabuster is easier for the democrats. Schumer could go on for days and he is the only demo that has to be on the floor.

And plus don't forget the liberal press coverage of the "noble" Schumer talking for days.

You've far more patience than I and must be a Saint. You've explained my feelings exactly.

And the same people who gave us this fiasco want me to vote for Arnie in California.

I'm at wit's end.

Wow a 1 seat majority is a clear numerical majority.

It amazes me that you all still refuse to put your anger towards the demos who threw out 200 years of Senate precedent.

My email to Bush and Frist:

Bush and the Republicans abandoned Miguel Estrada.

Why should concerned Americans continue to support the GOP and the administration when you allow the Democrats to stop the nomination of a more than qualified man for the Bench?

I will no longer support the President, the Administration or the GOP unless I see evidence of their fight for what is right.

But what the hey you can cheer on the demos for breaking 200 years of precedant.

Not for their political leaning, but because they did break 200 years of precedent--and the weakling Pubbies wouldn't do anything about it.

Let this sink in: 41 Dems WHIPPED 51 Pubbies. Don't blame the Dems--they aren't the majority party. That's like blaming the underdog team for winning the Superbowl in football. It is also being a "closet Dem"--playing the victim. The mean ole Dems whopped up on us Pubbies; they so mistreated us; they were just mean [whine whine whine].
