Bolton supporters march on City Hall

About 200 people marched from Ferris Plaza to City Hall Wednesday morning to protest what they said was the unfair firing of former Dallas police chief Terrell Bolton.

The march, organized by the Interdenominational Alliance of Metropolitan Dallas and the African-American Pastors Coalition, was larger than last week’s rally, which drew about 50 people.

In that march, protesters called for the firing of City Manager Ted Benavides and the recall of Mayor Laura Miller. They also protested what they said was biased news coverage of Mr. Bolton.

Several black pastors, speaking in behalf of their members, have expressed anger and frustration over the Aug. 26 firing of Mr. Bolton by Mr. Benavides. The Rev. Stephen Nash, pastor of Mount Tabor Baptist Church and president of the Interdenominational Alliance, has repeatedly asked that Mr. Bolton be reinstated.

On Wednesday, some of the marchers wore white T-shirts that read “Reinstate Chief Bolton” on the front and “Recall Mayor Miller” on the back.

Led in their march by pastors and ministers, they sang “We Shall Overcome.”

Referring to the former chief’s firing, the Rev. William Terrell of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church said, “I believe in equality for all men, and that all things should be done decently and in order.”

I love it. The City of Dallas has a female-lib mayor who replaced an African-American lib mayor. They have a Hispanic-American City Manager who replaced an African-American City Manager. Now that the City Manager has fired the African-American police chief, the African-American community cries "Racist"!

i did not see these people out prtotesting the fake arrests and conviction of poor men charged with drug dealing, that turned out to be pool chalk. Did anyone forget that twoo weeks ago these same people got upset that a cop shot a teenager and that Bolton had overul;ed the hiring board on the cop and that the cop had a record of demestic violence?

In Texas we have a law that says people like the police chief serve at the will of their boss. Four years ago he demoted or fired a number of senior asst. Chiefs with no warning, because that was his right. Now the shoe is on the other foot and he crys like a baby.

It's been well documented that Chief Bolton has performed miserably since taking office. I (thankfully) don't live in Dallas, another shining example of what you get when the Democrats run the show.

Mayor Laura Miller is a Democrat, Chief Bolton has to be a Democrat, City Manager Ted Benavides is a Democrat, and the vast majority of the City Council is Democrat.

Chief Bolton, and his allies, are playing the race card with the same zest that Brittany displayed while playing tonsil hockey with Madonna.

Chief Bolton's allies were out in force with signs pointedly referring to the ethnicity of City Manager Benavides. I do give the TV media credit for showing those signs on the news, but I must have missed where the Dallas Morning News covered it.

Voters of Dallas, you are reaping what you have sown.

Bolton says Benavides lied

Terrell Bolton wiped his eyes as he exited his news conference at his attorney's office Friday. He requested a written explanation of why he was fired and sought a City Council hearing.

Covering his face to hide his tears, Terrell Bolton said Friday that he couldn't even get a job as a dogcatcher now. Mr. Bolton, fired Tuesday as Dallas police chief, sobbed as he accused City Manager Ted Benavides of lying to save face and of ruining his law enforcement career.

In his speech the other night, Bolton said he wouldn't be able to get a job as dogcatcher! This march, and singing "We shall overcome" kind of assures it, doesn't it?

Doesnt matter that this guy did a suck job, crime was up , police department scandals were up....he wasn't supposed to be fired because he was black. Bolton was on a local news cast saying, " The new mayor Laura Miller just has a problem with black folk".
Meanwhile the blacks that are protesting his firing and raising allegations of racism are caring picket signs that accuse the Hispanic city manager of being a wetback.
