San Francisco-AP -- Celebrity and gubernatorial candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger is suggesting that he's too busy campaigning, and that he doesn't have the time to engage in too many candidate debates.
Schwarzenegger, appearing on a California radio talk show program (on K-R-L-A), was explaining his decision to only take part in one debate on September 17th. He says he's gotten so many offers for debates he can't do them all -- with just a little more than a month left in the campaign to unseat Governor Gray Davis.
Schwarzenegger also rejected criticism that he doesn't have any real Republican credentials. He says he registered for the Republican party just a month after emigrating from Austria, 35 years ago.
Schwarzenegger says he heard President Nixon speak about free enterprise -- and that inspired him to rush out to register with the Republican party.

I think Arnold is the only viable candidate who would not face an immediate recall effort by the opposition party. JMO.
Guess he might face one from his own party. Wouldn't that be funny? Well, probably not if you happen to live in CA.

The campaign is too short, only because you don't have a platform to run on Arnold.
Do the honorable thing, drop out now, and place your support behind TOM McCLINTOCK's efforts to save Kalifornia from BustaMEChA. The time has come to admit your campaign is without substance, and you are interloper in the world of politics. Your only ambition is to muck-up the Kalifornia political scene.
Leave tomorrow and throw your support behind the only candidate who stands a chance of reversing the tide of socialism in Kalifornia.... TOM McCLINTOCK.

Why President Bush won't publicly endorse Tom is mystifying. He is the only one capable of restoring California's economic health.Aside from the fact that he can't work with the legislature and has no bully pulpit, of course.
That in turn would help the national economy, making reelection much easier.
Yeah, Tom McClintock's 100% vetoing of any and all legislation that isn't to his standards of perfection will REALLY get the state moving in 2004.

Absolutely WONDERFUL. Great post. Arnold is a coward in the political arena, afraid to debate McClintock.

ROME2000 -- APOLOGIZE NOW. You were one of the big anti-McClintock posters on Saturday.
Ray Haynes HAS NOT ENDORSED ARNOLD. I called Ray's office today and THEY SAID RAY HAS NOT ENDORSED ARNOLD.
Do you feel bad about spreading false information for Arnold, who is barely a Republican?
Remember what Ben Stein when asked by Chris Matthews why wasn't voting for Arnold: "Well, because I'm a Republican." Rome2000, I wish you were with the real Republicans.

Ray Haynes HAS NOT ENDORSED ARNOLD. I called Ray's office today and THEY SAID RAY HAS NOT ENDORSED ARNOLD.And CLINTON SAID THAT HE DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT WOMAN, MONICA LEWINSKY.
I'm sure that you accept Clinton's tortured parsing of "sexual relations" as being grounded in fact.

Post #2 was full of articulate, intelligent reasons for not voting for Mr. Schwarznegger. Well done!
To: Brian S
In all fairness, he has already scheduled a ton of campaign visits to a lot of cities. He is even visiting our small community in the near future (We have approx. 90,000 in this county alone).
Perhaps that seems insignificant. But think about it. When the town papers show his visits, when his picture is glaring on the FRONT page, when he visits those towns with populations of a couple 100 thousand, and he visits "several" of them a day for "7 days a week" that is pretty good campaigning. That matters.
Especially if the televised debates run "during the day" when people are at work! After all, the newpapers are read by people who read them when they have a chance. Before or after work when their attention is undivided.
YOU figure it out. Sounds to me like a pretty good political move! The people whose town he visits, are gonna love it. He is putting THEM first!! Not the media!! The perfect snub.

He should debate. Period.

He is.. period.
To: Vets_Husband_and_Wife
Good. Period.

I'm a "real" Republican, and I'm for Schwarnegger. I wish some of YOU would quit with the HOLIER than thou attitude and quit name calling those of us who prefer Schwarznegger over McClintock.
We happen to think/know McClintock cannot win California.
I think I will start a PING list so I can shout "I TOLD YA SO" when "ONCE again" we LOSE California if people don't wake up and smell the coffee.
