MORE KERRY: Here's the link to Kerry's speech. And by the way, where's the outrage from the Dems over Kerry's use of an aircraft carrier as a political prop? Let's compare:

"I am loath to think of an aircraft carrier being used as an advertising backdrop for a presidential political slogan, and yet that is what I saw." - Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV)

Yepper. USS Yorktown is a museum ship, and quite a good one, too, from what I'm told.

Most of the old girls are destined for this duty.

Well, when my bro (Jim)....and I love him dearly, cept when he is about to deliver....when my bro is about to deliver, he kind leans forward and bites his lip, just like this guy....now he doesn't look at all like the guy in the photo, but he must've taken lessons from Jimmy, cause he has all the motions down just perfectly!!!

Oh and one more thing, if that was Jim sittin there, he most cerrtainly would be looking like the fella in the photo, cause Jim is no French looking John Kerry fan!

I know what you mean.

My old unit from the 1980's got inactivated. Bittersweet moments and memories.

My father served on USS Essex in Korea. "Pop" is on the Essex Survivors' Association, and got VIP passes aboard the new Essex (LHD-3) and follows her exploits a good deal.

"I voted to threaten the use of force to make Saddam Hussein comply with the resolutions of the United Nations. I believe that was right -- but it was wrong to rush to war without building a true international coalition -- and with no plan to win the peace." JFK(erry), from his speech linked above.

So this is how he explains voting FOR the War.

Most of the old girls are destined for this duty.

USS Midway is the newest of the old ladies to be transferred to museum status. From the DefenseLink Press Release:

Today, Acting Secretary of the Navy Hansford T. Johnson signed the donation contract officially transferring the historic aircraft carrier Midway to the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum in San Diego. Before the ship opens to the public next year, SDACM plans to perform work necessary to transform the ship into a museum and memorial.

"I’m pleased to approve the transfer of the Midway, which is a significant step in the effort to bring this historic vessel to one of America’s finest cities," said Johnson. "San Diego is a natural location for a naval museum, and the historic aircraft carrier Midway will make an outstanding centerpiece."

Built at Newport News, the USS Midway was commissioned on Sept. 10, 1945, and has the distinction of being the first fleet carrier to be named after a World War II battle. It is the third ship to bear the name "Midway."
