As in permanently added to a ping list, or simply pinged by a Freeper acquaintance who thought you would be interested in a certain post, and also pinged a regular ping list he/she maintains at the same time?

The latter happens relatively often, and it confuses people into thinking they've actually been added to a ping list when it's really just a one-time thing. The former, however, ought not happen at all, unless you've specifically requested to be added.

(I will take this opportunity to add my usual complaint that ping lists would be largely unnecessary if we could have bump lists back.)

I have been permanently added to several ping lists without being asked for my consent. I'd ask to be removed, but since they didn't ask me to be on the list in the first place, I honestly don't know if they'll remove me.

No big deal, but I understand where this guy is coming from. We're not talking one time pings here.
