Maybe change your signature to "do not ping me, do not reply to me, do not mail me without my permission"? That way you will not be bothered.

It still happens, 4my, but much less frequently of late. There for a while, I was getting on two or three new lists a week, usually concerning topics I had no interest in, and
always without my having asked to join the list. This ping wave caused me to submit the rant which RonDog was kind enough to link at post 24 of this thread. (Looks like someone got busy on the keyword list, lol. And if anyone is concerned with the expired gif on my post -- which I doubt -- it was a picture of a can of Spam.) Probably just a co-inky-dink, but pingism, at least that directed toward me, has declined since then.
My problem having largely abated, I should probably quit while I'm ahead. But the suggestion by several posters that the proper way to deal with being on an unsolicited ping list is to FReepmail the pinger and request to be removed from the list is just plain annoying. There shouldn't be any such thing as an unsolicited ping list, and the burden of resolving the situation shouldn't fall on the pingee. Unsolicited pinging is presumptious, and just plain rude.

If I pinged you and you want removed ask me nicely and I will do so. Most people do so privately in Freepmail. I see you did not and this is my first notice from you. I only pinged some people for the first time today. My apologies to all upset about it. Let me know if you mind or do not.

As long as you don't get ***PINGed*** into the "science" threads, you'll be safe to go in the water... I can add ya to my ping list if you want. :-)

When we first went to the Pinging crap, I was put on one. I never ask to be on. After, several months ,I wanted off and politely did what you suggested, but I am still on. This has been around a couple of years ago , I know.

Has anyone else been put on ping lists without their knowledge? Yes, but shortly after I am pinged on a list, I tend to have knowledge of it. I look and see I am pinged. Therefore I know.
Do I win?
I'll take the vacation no, wait, the car.
Oh, is this a trick question?

Is there gonna be a how-did-I-get-on-this-ping-list ping list? If so, don't ping me. (Believe it or not, I actually have a limit as to how much or the surreal I can take. Too much and I start to duct tape marshmallows to the dog.)

Hey! This isn't about Mississippi!
No but bourbon was bragging about how the Ms ping list was growing and since you are one of the "keepers of
the list" I thought you might be using this tatic.
BTW your list has one less name than bourbon's
