Any ideas for breakfast? I am getting so tired of eggs and don't have a lot of time to mess around with omelets/assorted fillings.

Been on Atkins for 2 months (lost 11 lbs.-6 more to go). I have held a brownie hot fudge sundae out there as a carrot once I reach my goal. If I splurge one time on that, will I really mess myself up?

I'm unsure of how much I can indulge myself. I know it can't be every day, but is once a week okay for a nice dessert? I know I'm going to have to watch carbs the rest of my life, but a treat will be nice occasionally.

Also any ideas for "fake sweets"? I'm also getting tired of sugar free jello and pudding. I'll try the pumpkin pie.

I guess I'd say I was in OWL right now. How much fruit should be consumed in OWL? What kind of fruit is best? Would a half a banana be okay once every other day or so?

Is it advisable to eat cereal or sandwiches with bread when on maintenance?

Hard to know how far to go without negating all the progress. Your suggestions would be welcome.

Somewhere I read -- maybe here on FR! -- an idea that I enjoy. My DD thinks it's gross. ;-)

Buy chocolate low-carb milkshake powder (you could also use sugar free pudding mix or sugar free hot cocoa mix) and sprinkle some over cottage cheese. Stir it really well, and then enjoy.

This has more texture than pudding, and is more filling (and nutritious!), but tastes like a treat.

Are you tired of eating eggs or are you just tired of making eggs? I hard-boil a dozen eggs at at time and have two each morning for breakfast. So I'm boiling eggs only every six days. Also with the eggs, I microwave 4 slices of bacon and have a cup of yogurt - always with berries. Such as blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, etc. Berries are good for you on a low-carb diet.

My sweet tooth is basically gone. The yogurt I eat in the morning tastes like ice cream to me because it is the sweetest thing that I eat.

I suppose you could get away with eating bread with sandwiches every now and then, preferably whole wheat bread. Don't make a habit of it though. I would stay away from cereal forever. Just my opinion.

Try to find a store that carries a full line of Atkins products.
They make varied candies with only 2 carbs pkg., canned Shakes & Shake Mix 2 carbs serving, Ice Cream 3 carbs serving, low carb pancake batter, syrup, Muffins .....

I was surprised to find that K-Mart has a pretty good selection, in the Pharmacy dept.
Now I have two things to buy there, Atkins & motor oil.

Fabulous and Flourless : 150 Wheatless and Dairy-Free Deserts by: Mary Wachtel Mauksch

These are not fake sweets. They are very good. The author uses recipes from her childhood that are based on ground nuts, rather than flour. I substituted Splenda for the sugar. The cake I made was great.

Give them up. Just hold out and then about once every six weeks buy 5 pounds of the richest chocolates you can find and gorge till you blow chunks.
It's almost carb free if you do it fast enough, and it will ruin your apetite for sweets for another 6 weeks.

There are all kinds of low-carb chocolates and bars on the market now. I buy mine from Trader Joe's and Wal-Mart. A little more expensive than the real stuff, but it actually tastes good. At Wal-Mart you can find it in the pharmacy. Albertsons carries some Atkins food. TJ's also carries Atkins ice cream.

If my own example is any indication (and everyone is different), if you've spent an adequate amount of time on full Induction, your metabolism will be much more tolerant of the occasional carb than it was before after a lifetime of drowning in carbs. It is helpful, however, if you have your fudge brownie immediately after a protein-rich, fat-rich meal, to slow the inrush of high-glycemic carbs into your system.

I'm doing the South Beach diet. The following is what I have quite often: Take a few spoon fulls of part skim ricotta cheese. Add sugar substitute to taste (put enough in so that it tastes a little sweet). Add cocoa powder and mix that. Top off with some mini chocolate chips. Yum!

Re: your questions about Atkins -- what kind of fruit is best, etc. -- I would really suggest consulting the book on that subject and read, read, read. Atkins has a lot to say on these matters and getting your info from the horse's mouth is the best way to get it right.

I've been successful on Atkins and marvel at how easy it is.
