Here's what a conservative Republican friend supporting Democrat Randy Ewing for governor wrote me via email today regarding the Shyne pardon by Governor Mike Foster, a nominal Republican.
I am heartsick that our governor has pardoned a local black politician just in time for him to get back into politics. Bribery, a FEDERAL conviction, put him out of the running; but our governor has awarded him
(Joe Shyne) a pardon! We are fast becoming a no-brain, gutless people unable to take a stand and continue to STAND! Where are the real leaders, and where are the followers who have courage to support the right, regardless of who is right or wrong, as the case might be!
Read about Joe Shyne in the TIMES. I despise his lack of scruples and his feeling that HE can do no wrong. I'll be sick if he does run and is again elected, despite his history.
