"Are the bishops saying that removal of a feeding tube of a person who can breathe on his own is NOT euthanasia?"

ISTM that the position is a very "phariseesque" word game distilling down to "mere removal of sustenance is not tantamount to 'killing', and the fact that the person dies is not due to the action of those who decide not to feed the person; she merely dies on her own, nature taking its course"

Allow me to assert that if this is the case, then every mother who has been prosecuted for the death of her infant due to lack of food (and I believe there are plenty of such cases) will need to be reviewed, and reversed.

It is painfully obvious that the act of withholding sustenance from a person who is unable to provide it on his own is the killing of that person.

It is a despicable level of hypocrisy to pretend otherwise.

And it is an indictment of our culture that this is tolerated, let alone encouraged.

"Only Terri knows whether or not he's guilty."

And if she lives to speak?

Strange, how there is so much opposition to any speech therapy, isn't it.

"it goes un-noticed by any womans group, or advocacy group."

Oh, it's noticed, alright.

The problem is, these "advocacy groups" by and large tend to be "progressive" (read: hard leftist) by nature, and thus, driven by a pro-death/pro-"euthanasia" agenda.

When the right to kill comes up against the right to life, well, do the math.

What an interesting read from Constance Felos (Sept/Oct 1999)! I understand that she is the 2nd wife of atty. George Felos, and they are now divorced? Hmmm! I wonder if she got hold of Michael Schiavo, and he views Terri as a "personal attachment" that needs to be released. What a dirtbag!!

"I have discovered that when attachments are released one can approach life and death without the fear that appears so rampant in our culture. I hope that, through offering this article regarding actual and personal human suffering, each reader will recognize the importance of releasing one's own personal attachments."

Isn't her husband remarried? If so, why does he still have guardianship over this woman?

Not yet. He is waiting to get away with murder before doing so. Let's hope that the courts have enough logic to see the criminal he is and slap him down so hard he will not know what hit him.

From what you wrote, would it be fair to ask that if the convicted murderer is placed in a locked room and food and water are withdrawn, then the death would be natural and these 'Bishops' could look the other way? ... I'm truly saddened by what the catholic Church has become ... and I'm reminded of that fact every time I choke on the Nicean Creed or the Apostle's Creed.

What a perfect question!

It would be interesting to pose it to them, and get them on the record with an answer.

You really have put them in checkmate.

Those creeds are about the catholic Church, as in the universal body of Christ, not the Catholic Church, a specific organized religion.

Please accept my apologies for doubting your sincerity. This case is "unbelievable."

My family & I read the affidavits last night. Seems to us that law enforcement should have investigated the case 13 years ago.

No prob. I'm almost finished with this amended complaint.. anyone who wants this puppy in purely text form send requests to me at pc93@bellsouth.net. Suffice to say that it is my sincere hope Felos should be/will be called felon and esp. so Michael Schiavo. A framed picture of Paramhansa Yogananda... ha! Paramhansa would probably spit on Mr. Felon. Ok maybe I exagerate but common! ;=] Anyways back to the task at hand!

I just read your link to a "Husband bars priest from brain-damaged wife" and all I can think of is Scott Peterson. Terri's husband is a real piece of work.

I mean...how sweet is this?

Anderson is particularly concerned about the impact this could have on Terri.

"Terri looked forward to his visits," she said.

Anderson said Malanowski filed an affidavit "describing how one St. Patrick's Day he visited Terri and told her he was going to sing 'When Irish Eyes are Smiling' in Polish. And she started laughing. She got the humor, she understood. Michael insists that she is so brain-damaged that she can't recognize people or anything -- but she loves Monsignor."

As Anderson's sees it, Schiavo is trying to make Terri's environment as "barren as possible, and as free from stimulation."

"I don't think there is any justification for removing spiritual comfort from her in what may be her last days," she said. "It's beyond comprehension."

This again reminds me of the popular Huey Pierce Long, Jr., D-LA. He said that if Americans ever adopted "fascism," we would call it "anti-fascism." So now we are calling "euthanasia" just "death by natural causes." Some liberals call it "mercy killing." It's funny how the "die with dignity" crowd has death in mind for someone other than themselves. Ditto the abortion people. Every supporter of abortion has already been born!!!!!

I am glad someone else brought that up. I went and looked it up and I found out it can cause irregular heartbeat and even cardiac arrest if you take more than the recommended daily allowance.

Hebrews 4:13 ... Michael is not hidden from 'all' eyes, though he assumes he is when he works his mischief.
