Holiday Inn Declares 'National Towel Amnesty Day' Share Your Terrible Towel Stories
POSTED: 8:43 p.m. CDT August 28, 2003 UPDATED: 8:44 p.m. CDT August 28, 2003
DALLAS -- If you've ever swiped a towel from Holiday Inn, the hotel chain wants you to come clean, NBC 5 reported.
Holiday Inn said Thursday is National Towel Amnesty Day and is ready to bestow forgiveness on guests who have taken towels over the years.
The chain said it even wants to hear from those who have taken towels. It will donate $1 to charity for each story contributed to its Web site.
Holiday Inn officials said they have already gotten hundreds of responses -- including one from a man who took a towel on his honeymoon night. He wrote in to say that he no longer has the girl -- but he still has the towel.
And don't worry, Holiday Inn said it doesn't want the towels back.

I've honestly never taken towels from the Holiday Inn, but if this becomes an annual thing I'd like to know. I'll stock up next time.

Even a stolen towel makes for a suitable defense against the Ravenous Bug-blatter Beasts Of Trall.
But ya gotta know how to use it...

I could have my aunt respond. She has Holiday Inn towels from by-gone days, except she's now in a nursing home with mental dementia and her stories are interesting to say the least. With six ex-husbands and a lot of Holiday Inn visits, she could fill a book. Holiday Inn is showing a great sense of humor, but there's some things they might not want to know.:)
I'd return the Holiday Inn towels of hers I can find, but it's more than a little embarrassing.

I never swipe towels...don't need to.
When hitchhiking around the galaxy, I ALWAYS remember to bring my own towel.

A friend's father had Holiday Inn towels stacked so high in his garage that he could have become a distributor and supplied all of the Holiday Inns in the region. The kid used to use them as bases when playing kickball. I think about that every time I see the horrible thin towels that I now see in Holiday Inns. Those towel that he stole were fantastic quality but since idiots like him would steal them, now we get crap.

Several years ago we purchased a furnished cabin in the Sierras. Among other interesting things we found in the cabin was a towel from a Holiday Inn, and like your friend's stash this towel was of a high quality. In fact, I would like to purchase towels like that one for my own home, but alas, I am afraid the Holiday Inn towel we found was probably swiped in the 60's or 70's. Quality isn't quite the same today.
