August 29, 2003 -- IN 1798, Congress claimed sole responsibility for regu lating immigration. But the overwhelming evidence suggests that many areas of the country are in open defiance of federal law.

That's REPUBLICAN Mayor Bloomberg to you Ahnold supporters...
Hey thats Mr socialist RINO mayor Bloomburg to you mister/misses!
And who would have signed that into law?
Wish Jorge would be at least as tough as Klintoon on illegal immigration.
He's in fact facilitated the problem by using the bully pulpit on occassion to make offhand suggestions about worker programs and the like, you know the trial balloon mentality thing. The illegal's pick up on this and stream across the border to make sure they are here when (not if) he makes a formal proposal. Blackbird.
"Holding Government Accountable"
The Founder & President of Police Officers for Immigration Reform is John Nickell. He is a 6 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, including Desert Storm and an 11 year veteran of the Houston Police Departement.
After seeing the streets of Houston laden with known illegal aliens, and being prohibited by General Order 500-5 of the HPD from inquiring into citizenship status or contacting INS about a known illegal alien, he decided to speak out.
Additionally, he observed many more cities around the United States were rushing to become a "sanctuary city" where their officers were being prohibited by the same type of sanctuary policy as Houston. In addition to these policies, these same cities and local governments were mandating the recognition & acceptance of the Mexican ID known as the Matricula Consular. This form of ID is not verifiable, is unsafe and is handed out by the Mexican government to its citizens who are in this country illegally!
On February 27th, 2003 he testified before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Immigration in Washington, D.C. about the policy in Houston and its violation of federal law. Particularly, the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996, Sec. 642.
On his return to Houston, Officer Nickell conducted a 1 hour radio interview with talk show host Jon Matthews on KSEV, 700 AM. Officer Nickell spoke about his testimony, the illegal practice of the HPD by instituting this policy and the civil liabilities of this type of policy. He was immediately complained on by his department and later received a 1 day suspension.
Consequently, Officer Nickell formed this group so he could speak freely and not be accused of representing his department or criticizing them without approval from the same Chief of police who is violating federal law.
Additionally, he wanted a forum where other officers around the country could submit their agencies policies, anonymously, to make them public without fear of retribution from their respective departments.
We welcome all law enfocement officers who have sworn to uphold the laws of the U.S. to contact us with any concerns or policies they believe to be contradictory to federal mandates, which supercedes any local law. This opinion was handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court in New York City v. The United States.
We also welcome anyone who is not affiliated with law enforcement, but wishes to see these types of policies within their community abolished.
Help us defeat these policies and with other immigration matters and issues. We are a non-profit organization, applying for 501 (c) (4) status. This means we can and will seek to influence legislation and political candidates who favor immigration reform. Any donations made to us ARE NOT TAX DEDUCTABLE.
It is time for law enforcement officers to educate the public about these dangerous and illegal polices and their impact on communities as a whole.Officers need to inform their about negligent policing within law enforcement agencies nationwide.
