Hospice/Palliative care is a counterculture alternative to traditional approaches to medical care and has been since its inception. Hospice programs in the US were established in response to health services that failed to provide comprehensive services for the dying. This circumstance led to hospice care being defined as an alternative to, rather than a part of, the health care system.
I am not suprised that Hospice is riddled with euthanasia types and those in the health insurance industry who seek to save money on the backs of the dying.
Lots of people (volunteers and pros) get involved with Hospice out of a sense of noble altruism but in my opinion are being exploited by the aforementioned groups.
