Am I allowed to ask if Scientologists who were formerly Catholic have to permanently sever ties with the Church and its priests?

You can ask anything you want. I just want to protect people here by reminding them to phrase their "what-if" scenarios carefully to avoid any possible reprecussions.

If Scientology is a cult, and many believe it is, the standard method of operation is to have the new member sever all ties. So yes, I think that may be a safe assumption.
