Here is what I sent to everyone:

November 28, 2003

How can the people of Florida sleep tonight?

A woman is going to be murdered only because
she chose the wrong husband.

I am referring to Terry Schiavo. Governor Bush sent a letter asking
The Honorable George W. Greer to appoint a guardian ad litem to protect
Terrie's rights due to a family disagreement about her care.

The "Honorable" George W. Greer would rather sign an order
to have her killed (slowly by starvation) rather then do this. This is what America is all about?

Does the star-spangled banner fly over the land of the free and the home of the brave, or
only over the ones who are able to take nourishment without a tube?

Where is our outrage?

Sincerely,
Charlene Frank

You have a Republican Legislature in Florida, right?

Caveat: I don't know much about the law but can Jeb convene an emergency session and get them to pass a measure giving him power to override the judge and stay Terri's execution? If he can do it for a criminal, why not a euthanasia case?

My letter to all the newspaper links:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I don't live in Florida, I'm in California; however I have been keeping up with Terri Schiavo's fight for her life.

I wouldn't exactly call myself an ardent prolifer, but this case is stunning. A young woman collapses under mysterious circumstances, and the husband sues everyone. The young woman, Terri, ends up with a rather large medical trust fund. Unfortunately it seems that Terri's husband really, really, wants his wife to die. He has spent 13 years, not on trying to rehabilitate her, but trying to yank her feeding tube.

Death by starvation. Will he allow the doctors to shoot her up with morphine to deal with this slooooow death? Heck, Terri has an infection at the moment. High fever, everything coming out both ends. Last I heard, her loving husband refused to allow medical personnel to administer antibiotics to his wife. Maybe he can get rid of her that way. Considering that her wheelchair is broken, she doesn't exactly get much sunshine. She is not allowed visitors, flowers, or even the parish priest. See, Terri responds favorably to visitors and pretty things. Imagine how she could respond to therapy, considering the fact she ISN'T brain dead.

After receiving 27,000 emails, Governor Jeb Bush wrote a letter to Judge George Greer, basically asking him to reconsider Terri's death sentence. Judge Greer replied:

"I read [Gov. Bush's letter] because it came from the governor and I respect his position," Greer told the Tampa Tribune. "Beyond that, it is going in the file."

Niiiice. Judge Greer, you may be a judge, but you are not jury and executioner. You most certainly are not God. Appoint a Guardian Ad Litem....NOW. For anyone who happens to read this: What happened to us? What happened to our society that allows a husband to petition to kill his wife, and a judge that will do his bidding? What kind of society have we become to allow the wanton killing of an inconvenient human being?

Some of you may say, "so what? What does Terri Schiavo have to do with me"? Imagine yourself as Terri's parents, or Terri herself. How terrifying is it when the person who you entrusted your life with, is trying to end it...

Call, email, write letters, or picket. Do something people!

Terri's family put this website up:

Is there ANY evidence of a conflict of interest here? Any way a motion for recusal can be filed?

Judge Greer is ignoring Governor Bush's appeal for appointing a Guardian ad litem for Terri. If you are so inclined, please read this thread and help out in any way you can. Thanks!

Go to the Terri Schindler-Chiavo Foundation site for a video record of Terri's responsiveness. She is able to respond but is able to interact in only a limited way when concious. Which she is in each of the videos. There is also information about this whole case, which has been going on for years.

With no therapy, no one cared to discover whether her condition could be improved to the point where she could communicate. Looks like the team of Greer/Chiavo are bound and determined no one ever will find out if therapy would have helped.

It's amazing that Terri was denied ANY therapy whatsoever. This is not a right to life issue as much is it an issue of cruel and inhuman treatment of an individual who may very well die a painful death - and be aware of every minute of discomfort.

I don't know if anyone will listen, however I just emailed the first lady:

Dear Mrs. Bush,

Perhaps you can help Terri Schiavo. Thirteen years ago, under unexplained circumstances, she became brain injured. Terri is not on life support, however she receives nutrition and hydration through a tube in her stomach. For thirteen years, Terri's parents and husband have been locked in a tug of war over her care. He wants her to die, her parents want her to undergo rehabilitative therapy. You see, in the thirteen years that Terri has been debilitated, her husband has vetoed any form of therapy.

Your brother in law Jeb actually sent a letter to Judge George Greer, asking him to re examine Terri's case before he rules on pulling her feeding tube on September 11, 2003. Judge Greer rudely disregarded Governor Bush's letter:

"I read [Gov. Bush's letter] because it came from the governor and I respect his position," Greer told the Tampa Tribune. "Beyond that, it is going in the file."

Mrs. Bush, Terri responds to friends and family! Unfortunately, her husband has legally tried to block visits from the same people who can continue to stimulate her mind. Judge Greer so far has been on Michael Schaivo's side. This is unthinkable! What kind of society have we become when we can withhold medical care because our relative or spouse has become inconvenient?

Can you help keep Terri alive? There are at least thirteen doctors who have submitted statements saying that Terri could benefit from therapy, but Judge Greer doesn't care.

Please visit: www.terrisfight.com

All I can say is that I would hate to be Terri's mom and dad right now. If there is nothing you can personally do, I understand. Just please say a prayer for that girl...

Sincerely,

Where is the disabilities lobby on this tragedy? Isn't there an organized group that rallies to the aid of the disabled. Political science books say that 17 percent of the population is technically "disabled," though such disabilities are not always apparent to the sight.

The feminists? This time the feminists are yielding to a liberal husband who wants to starve his wife to death. I thought that feminists did not like such "husbands." Is that because in the world of the typical American feminist, euthanasia trumps feminism?

This is a wonderful letter. Unfortunately, it won't change a thing. Man has hardened his heart, as the Bible says, "in the last days."

I skimmed the page, but am reluctant to take anything as "fact" for obvious reasons. I didn't watch the videos, but read the synopsis. It just seems to me that if her husband tried to kill her, there would be some severe reactions from her when she sees him. I guess this isn't the case since that's hasn't been mentioned. But then I don't know the effects of her condition, i.e., could such memories be totally erased, but her still recognize people.

You know, when I was typing those letters, I thought about that. If Terri freaks when she sees her husband there will be no way to document it, unless law enforcement steps in with a video camera. The website you saw has been set up by her family. All you can see is family oriented video. I really doubt that the opposing parties could sit in the same room together under these circumstances, hence no videos of the loving husband. Oh, and I would be just as angry about this situation if the husband was in the hospital and his wife was trying to kill him.

If euthanasia trumps feminism in modern American, mannon must necessarily trump God!!!! I cannot fathom the patience of the Almighty with sinners.
