John Hinckley Wants Out His lawyers say the man who shot Ronald Reagan needs more freedom in order to get well. The presidents daughter says who cares?
Aug. 26 Since 1999, John Hinckley, the man who shot my father, has been walking off the grounds of St. Elizabeths Hospital accompanied by a member of the hospital staff. These supervised day trips have included visits to shopping malls, book stores and bowling alleys, as well as meals with his family. The U.S. Attorneys office for the District of Columbia has gone to court numerous times trying to convince judges that Hinckley should not be wandering around the nations capital even with a hospital attendant accompanying him, but they have not succeeded. The supervised day trips have continued.

If on Sept. 2 John Hinckley is granted the right to walk off hospital grounds with no supervision, we should all ask some very serious questions about our legal system. Some of us have had questions about the legal system for some time .. I can't believe they are going to let him out

What are we now Belgium or something? Anyone who did what this guy did, should, at the very least, die in prison.

John Hinckley should be set free just about the same time he assumes room temperature.
Not a moment sooner

Newsweak is awful. I read one of their rags recently while at the gym and literally the first 25 pages (I counted) were dedicated to attacking President Bush, the GOP, Karl Rove, Rush Limbaugh, Ward Connerly, and Conservatives. Then there was a fair article written by Howard Fineman followed by an article of vicious lies about Bush written by Jonathan Alter.

Sorry. The picture link was bad.

Good to see Patti Davis speaking up in her father's defense lately. The way she writes this article is very effective; she is a good writer.
I'm sure she's correct that some liberals have made it their life's work to spring Hinckley. It would be a travesty of justice if this happened.

Wonder how Jodie Foster is taking this news? Must make her feel all warm and secure thinking about Hinkey out on the streets again.

I wonder why the Secret Service didn't blow Hinckley away?

I'm more thinking it looks like Ronaldus Maximus is dying and she's hedging her inheritance prospects. I knew her a long time ago but boy she was a cold! Until recently, I've heard things haven't changed much.
Still she does make several good points although I'd be happy to lend her a paragraph marker or two ... ;-)

Hope he doesn't find out that Sen. Clinton is dating Jodie Foster...

She seems to have come around a little bit from her strident anti-nuke posture when her father was in office.
I recall her bringing Berkeley types to the White House to have at the old man, but alas, he was the Ronald Reagan we all know and love. He just smiled and winked, deployed the Pershings and won the Cold War.
She was on Howard Stern's radio program some years back, and was very supportive of her father's place in history, and seemed grudgingly admirable towards his enormous legacy.
