"i think what is troubling him is that he knows he's going nto lose in 2004..."

Just curious Bill.....Who would you like to see as next President?

Only a real loser would say that, but how often is a real lose correct?

Or...what's troubling the President is how to keep us alive.

Think! before you type, please.

The main stream press and the dims are getting desperate, with their articles and speeches. Too many Freepers are falling into the trap, believing the idiocy of their claptrap!

I know...many freepers (too many, IMHO) are reacting and not thinking. Let's pull it together, friends! It's way too early in this election cycle to be unravelling.

Link to the speech ..

President Delivers Remarks to 85th American Legion Convention

Btw, the speeches are always posted on the White House web site a short while after they are made ..... usually within a couple of hours. Lots of other goodies on the site also .... :-)

I have the site bookmarked ....be sure to note that it is .gov and NOT .com, which I understand is a porn site.

WhiteHouse.gov

Ahhh, thanks much for the links! After seeing the pics of Dubya on the daily Dose, I can't wait to read the speech. He really looks intense in some of the pics.

That's what I thought too -- no doubt. Then MO1 tells me that Biden was on Matthews show tonight saying that Bush didn't make his case.

Did Biden listen to the same speech we did?

Why isn't he in Montgomery, instead of St. Louis today?

The St. Louis speech was yesterday. Dubya doesn't keep your truly updated as to his schedule.

I can't .. it's a gut feeling .. he just doesn't seem his old self when he's given a speech .. he looks like something big is troubling him

Probably the Ten Commandments issue in Montgomery.

I'd like Bush to be confronted with that and made to answer what he plans on doing regarding fixing that or not. That is a disgrace.

Right on, I am 100% behind you. Every vet has EARNED v.a. benefits because they SERVED this nation. They risked their LIVES!! to defend me and to defend everyone in the greatest nation on earth. We owe them what they were PROMISED.

I posted the following elsewhere, so if you read it, skip it, if you have not read it: it may be a good idea to get the attention of the nation:

"My father is a stanch Republican (he is going to have a heart attack one of these days because he can't stand liberals). Sadly, he was denied coverage by the V.A. because of the cuts put into place by Congress. He is a Korean War vet. Upon joining the military, he was promised health benefits for life if he serves his nation.

Since leaving the military, honorably discharged, in the 1950s, he has never used any of his health benefits, costing this nation not one penny. Several years ago when he was in his mid-50s, he was laid off from work. The company moved out of state. The only jobs he could take were near minimum wage jobs. Luckily my mother had health coverage for both of them. Just this year, it changed and she has to pay an extra $4,000 a year to cover him for health insurance.

So, my father applied to the V.A. for the first time in his life, seeking only prescription drug coverage, and he was denied any and all coverage. Even though he was promised health coverage when he was in the military. So in effect he was lied to by the federal government and by the military.

With V.A. cuts in sight as far as the eye can see. The only solution I can find to this problem is something similar to what pro-lifers do.

Do you know how pro-lifers go in front of abortion mills to prevent women from allowing "doctors" to murder their child? Then pro-lifers hand out literature to the brainwashed women explaining to them that the fetus inside them is actually a human being. A Human Being? - What a concept! ;)

We should learn from them. Veterans should go in front of ALL recruiting offices and let the potential recruits know what is going on to everyday veterans. Ask them to wait on joining the military until Congress does something to solve the many problems facing veterans today. If the potential recruit still wants to join, fair enough. We still get our message across. Those recruits are being promised college tuition reimbursements and other promises they will EARN by serving our nation. Those promises may be more lies from the federal government. The promises we make to our men and women serving in the military are now made as easily as they are taken away. If enough former vets become involved, changes will occur quickly. However, efforts must be organized before anyone someone begins doing it."
