The Rotunda Reopens September 18 2003
On September 18, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, and the Bill of Rights (collectively known as the Charters of Freedom), will be back on public display for the first time since July 4, 2001. For the first time all four pages of the Constitution will be on continuous display. The rededicated hall will contain fourteen new document cases tracing the story of the creation of the Charters and the continuing impact of these fundamental documents on the nation and the world. The new encasements will make the Charters more accessible for younger visitors and those using wheelchairs. The murals of the signers of the Charters, painted by artist Barry Faulkner, have also been restored. Join us as we open the doors to the newly renovated Rotunda with exciting family activities and entertainment for all ages. We will celebrate the reopening with three days of extended hours for your convenience. Opening Weekend Hours:

And thank you for the history lesson, HenryLeeII!
I'm impressed.
Kay Bailey Hutchison was talking about her recent trip to Iraq and Yogoslavia on TV last night and how for the entire week she was afraid--like the soldiers who never know when they're in somebody's crossfire.
Are you telling me that they're all safer in Baghdad than they would be in D.C.?
"Weinie says no to armed manhole covers"
If that great Washingtonian, Frederick Douglass, were alive today and asked to identify the citys most pressing civil rights issue, it would surely be the state of the public schools not the statehood issue that the one-party politicians of this city of 88 percent Democrats keep thrusting upon the populace.
The Mayor; the DC Superintendent of Schools; the City Council and the President of the Board of Education and the Board of Education should be horse whipped in public. The children of DC are held in bondage and few of them will ever be freed.
(Don't worry, FTH, I'll return to making fun of DC's inept city government after I post this commercial message)...
