[history]
California business interests have begun pouring money into the campaign committees of Republican actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who over the weekend raised nearly $725,000 in new donations.
Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante received a $300,000 contribution from one of the state's leading Indian gambling tribes with whom he has long been associated.

Republican State Sen. Tom McClintock received $9,500 over the weekend. He's got some good ideas, but he's not going to win.

Well he want win the money race that's for sure..... But grassroots work can make up for some of the deficit I'd guess.... just will it be enough?

"As you know, I don't need to take any money from anybody. I have plenty of money myself. I will make the decisions for the people."
But the actor didn't need to dip into his pocket over the weekend. He has raised $624,000 since Friday, including 24 contributions of $21,200 -- the maximum a single donor can give to a replacement campaign. To win any election you need money. In that regard, Arnold's in good company. But when you make a public pronouncement, that you won't take donations from special interests that represent corporations and businessmen, it makes you look kind of hypocritical, or at the very least, talking out both sides of your mouth. Not a good move Rnold.

But grassroots work can make up for some of the deficit 19 thousand to 725 thousand??! Thats more than a marginal difference. Im one who thinks that to some extent , how much you raise is one indicator of your popularity, at least in an intraparty race. McLintock's support may be at the grassroots level, but I doubt its particularly deep.
Still, I am skeptical he'll ever drop out.

It appears that you are misquoting Arnold... don't worry, though, it seems to be something going around at Free Republic. Maybe a curious Freeper was lurking at DU recently and didn't wash their hands properly before they came back...

Maybe a curious Freeper was lurking at DU recently and didn't wash their hands properly before they came back...I'm not misquoting Rnold. Rnold said, he wouldn't take money from special interest groups. What do you call reprsentatives from the business world? Individual donors? It may be a fine point, but Rnold should have financed his campaign with his own money and that coming from unaffliated citizens. If you can't understand that, so be it. I guess the standard is, whatever Rnold says the standard is. LOL
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big supporter of unlimited donations to political candidates and oppose CFR. I'm also amazed by so-called conservatives giving Rnold a pass on everything.

The PTB have chosen the Gubenator. That's a good enough reason for me to vote McClintock. At least he's a real Conservative not a pretend one.

Gosh, deport, aren't you afraid to post at FR??? It'll just give him something else to copy and paste.

I will post at FR when I can find something about the War on Terror or the Presidential election. Seems like lately it is the McClintock /Arnold election or the Ten Commandements in Alabama. No use in discussing things on either one, because people are pretty set in their ways, and any disagreement tends to lead to accusations that you are a RINO or an atheist.
I am not from California or Alabama, so I am just staying off those threads.
To: Miss Marple
Yes the threads have gotten fairly harsh. I don't read or spend much time on the Alabama threads but I do enjoy posting some data on the CA threads just to keep the pot stirred.
Each side is set in their positions and won't change anytime soon. It may change at some point as the election nears.....

Did he mean he wouldn't take $ from donors/SIGs while campaigning, or did he mean that he was not motivated by $succe$$ to pursue the position?
I had the idea that he meant the latter, but never paid attention to how it was explained later.
To: unsycophant
I thought Arnold said, he wouldn't be influenced by special interest groups. In that regard, businessmen promoting their individual company goals, would make them a special interest. Right? In my book, that means all donations that come in from anyone having an agenda for their organization or company, would be turned down. Now, I don't agree with that premise and was only pointing out my perception of Arnold's overall rhetoric.
