U.S. intelligence suspects Iraq's weapons of mass destruction have finally been located.

"Suspects"? That inspires confidence. Well, I'm waiting to see if the govt will try to run with this one, and how they'll try to convince us that this time they're really sure.

Bekaa Valley has been a training ground and base-of-operations for terrorism for at least 30 years. I'd say that burning the whole dang valley to the ground would *not* be a bad thing, considering the fact that most of the residents of said valley are terrorist groups...

Sorry-- I posted the article the same time you did.

Yes, this is old news, but I believe it is correct.

Moving the WMDs before the war was consistent with Saddam's rope-a-dope strategy, which, let's not forget, almost worked (with the assistance of the Western Press, a.k.a. the "quagmire choir").

The rope-a-dope strategy meant Saddam couldn't use the WMDs (using = revealing their existence = justifying the invasion).

Saddam burying the WMDs was no different then burying his aircraft. He thought he could draw the U.S. in, then hit us with terrorist attacks, and sit back and wait for the leftists in the US and media to go after George Bush.

It was the best chance Saddam had.

CBS Evening News viewers were in a tizzy for answers to the WMD question. This story gives Mr. Rather something to feed them, giving the impression that jounalistic digging has, at last, produced a result that (a) makes the CIA look bad; (b) gives Rather something to talk about; and (c) provides plausible deniability for President Bush (who knows the TRUE intelligence regarding WMD whereabouts)...

...which is actually under the Normandy graveyards in France.

Should I watch the CBS Evening News?

I'd rather not.

I don't see us going after another country militarily for a long time. If those WMD aren't in Iraq, we're in trouble.

Instead they are located in Lebanon's heavily-fortified Bekaa Valley, swarming with Iranian and Syrian forces, and Hizbullah and ex-Iraqi agents

A bomber pilot's dream.

"The significance of this sighting did not register on the CIA at the time."

Paging George Tenet. Mr. Tenet, are you awake, or still asleep at the switch?

Christ, what a bunch of dolts in the CIA. A 10 year old could have figured this one out!

"The significance of this sighting did not register on the CIA at the time."

Oh please. Talk about disinformation for the masses. The CIA has definitely made some mistakes, but not one CIA analyist to suspect weapons transfer? BS

What is this? Who says we can get them? Iran and Syria? Ex-Iraqi agents or Hezbullah? Give me a break. If we KNOW where they are located NO ONE can stop us from getting them.

How convenient - we think we know where they are (WMD), but we can't get to them. See they're there, just have to beleive me on this.
Can't disprove the WMD exist because you can't get to where they are either.
Gotta have better proof than this.

U.S. intelligence first identified a stream of tractor-trailer trucks moving from Iraq to Syria to Lebaon in January 2003. The significance of this sighting did not register on the CIA at the time.

Well, this sentence tells me the entire article is garbage. A stream of tractor-trailer trucks in Jan 03 wouldn't tip off the CIA? Puh-leeze!

Saddam did us a favor sending all his bad stuff to others. Think of the lives lost in a full scale bio-chem attack on our troops.

Now we can dispose of the stuff at our leisure or have Israel deal with it. Now we know what the trip by Powell to Syria was all about, and the frenchie visits earlier.

Assad has his tits in a wringer.

"...The significance of this sighting did not register on the CIA at the time....."

Yeah, they thought it was the Good Humor man selling ice cream. The dumbing down of the CIA = (Clinton Intelligence Agency) has been truly horrible. I sure hope that they at least kept all the spy satellite photos over Lebanon.

Time to call up that fat greaseball Richardson to help out with the investigation - perhaps the photos were lost behind the copier machine.

Syria now sees the heat turned up in the American/International press against her, while the temperature begins to drop in desert making it a cool bet the US just might attack.
