In an audacious attack on a rival that he said was necessary if Florida's Democrats are to keep a Senate seat in 2004, U.S. Rep. Peter Deutsch used a candidates' forum Sunday to blast Miami-Dade Mayor Alex Penelas as a party traitor with felonious campaign finance practices.

Sorry, I don't know--but what I WOULD like to know is why on earth is McCollum running yet AGAIN?! I'm sure he's a fine conservative, and I wasn't paying much attention to that race in 2000, but the little I did, he struck me as bland, uncharismatic, uninspiring. These might seem like superficial things, but such things count in a swing state. Is he suffering from Bill Simon syndrome, or what? Like Simon, he had his bite at the apple, should do the right thing for the party and bow out.

Deutsch and Penelas were the only candidates to present at the Claude Pepper Luncheon, held at the Silver Lake Golf and Country Club. Declining invitations were U.S. Reps. Allen Boyd and Alcee Hastings, while former state Education Commissioner Betty Castor sent her daughter, Hillsborough County Commissioner Kathy Castor.

Alcee the impeached Judge is running for Senate?! Tsk!

And "keep it up", indeed, Rep. Deutsch...I can't believe the tactics some of these Dem's use, and it sure is nice to see this fellow agitating against his fellow Dem's for a change...of course, Deutsch himself is just appalling, IMHO...I may be a "snow-bird", but Florida certainly deserves better than this twit, and so does the restof the country...(again, IMHO!)
