I have to say, what gets me about Starr is that she is such a big fat hipocrite! "I am proud of who I am " you don't have to lose weight if you like your body, don't give in to hollywood blah blah blah...she is full of WAY TOOOOOO MUCH FOOOOOOD AND BULL DO DO

I dunno. My best friend had it done 4 1/2 years ago, and it's done wonders. She shed over 1/2 her body weight (pre-surgery) and has stayed within 5 lbs of her final weight (135) since she plateaued 3 years ago.

For her, it was a last resort, but since she was quite young, she could make the overall lifestyle changes easier and manage the lifestyle better. (and her husband says that she is stunning still!)

This is to let everyone on here that has posted (with the exception of one posting), that you are all uninformed, uneducated, and ignorant to peoples feelings and the facts of this surgery. I myself have had the sugery, and it is the hardest, scariest decision of anyones life. It is NOT a matter of "self control", and I have many doctors that can attest to this. I know I may not be able to change anyone's minds, but, you will never know unless you have had to live with obesity through out your life. Starr is in my thoughts, and I hope she makes the decision that is right for her. (By the way, you HAVE to have medical reasons to have this surgery, or it will not be done, not JUST that you have no self control). Your are all ignorant hurtful people. (funny, the rules say NO personal attacks, but, all these posts sure sound like personal attacks to me)

Pardon my ignorance but I've always wanted to ask:

I understand that gastric bypass surgery drastically changes your eating habits. If that's the case, couldn't you have been eating that same way without the surgery? If not, why not?

star Jones is making the best choice for her life I'm sure she can care less about what you think while she's riding in her Mercedes and eating at the finest restaurants. and if the weight loss helps her career go farther so be it. what easy for some is very hard for others and as I've read people can be so cruel and narrow minded you're probably the same people who talk about overweight people behind there back.as far as the eating changes go if your stomach is the size of a peanut instead of the size of a eggplant you can't hold as much food. which forces you to change your eating habit . if it was so easy to quit bad habits and behavior there would be no more smokers, alcoholics or drug dealers because we would just quit. food works the same as drug it is a comforting tool that is learned. i wish people could just have surgery to get off drugs .

Jones who has battled her weight for years, has finally bit the bullet and hopes to shed the pounds like Al Roker and Carnie Wilson.

I saw a photo of Carnie Wilson a couple of weeks ago and she appears to be well over 200 pounds.

Hmmm...I don't know- what do you think? Signed up today, has really bad punctuation, randomly puts words in caps, and is telling us to be nonjudgmental in a round about way....

Gastric bypass success proves one thing: Calories count.

Take a flying leap. You seem to have a reading comprehension problem.

I was asking a question, not 'attacking' anyone nor talking behind anyone's back. If that makes me 'cruel and narrow minded' in your mind, get over it.

After gastric bypass surgery, the person can only have 30cc or one ounce an hour otherwise they get sick and vomit.

I understand the physical implications of gastric bypass surgery. My question, though, never seems to get answered.

If a person, after the surgery, eats less because he has to, what reasons are there for them not to eat that same reduced amount without resorting to surgery?

Well, it's a slow week. Might as well come on over and mock the Star Jones fans on this thread.

What is it with all these Lazurus threads?

First it was the Stevie Nicks one,
then a bunch of others,
now this.

Someone out there is bored.
