I can't tell if women want a Christopher Lowell type pansy boy or a confident guy. Seems they want the faggy guys sometimes, and sometimes they want the arrogant jerks. Normal guys in the middle aren't particularly well liked it seems.

Any article based on the premise that someone knows what women want
should always be read with the knowledge that the author is an idiot.
To: kattracks
It seems to me that just like women tend to give us conflicting signals about what they want, they too have conflicting attractions. They are simultaneously attracted and repulsed by masculine traits so whether they inevitably are attracted to a particular man or not is more a matter of mood, and is subject to periodic change.
It's much more complicated for women I think then for men.
My wife said something to me a few weeks ago that shed some small light on things for me. She said "When men are attracted to a woman, they want to sleep with her, but when women are attracted to a man, they want to marry him." I think this says more about my wife than most women, but I can see her point.
As for me, I'll stick to easy things like differential calculus and predicting the future, and leave understanding women to the experts.

There is some kind of discriminator function at work between normal women and those on the left.
My wife, who started out normal and is well into her journey to redemptive conservatism, cottoned to me right quick.
My MIL, however, hissed and spat the moment she entered the room with me for the first time. I do like to rile the ol' gal a bit, but she don't radiate the love o' Jesus much when we rub elbows.
Go figure.

I like men that don't badmouth women. In forums or otherwise!

I agree with Hair of the Dog that this thread as bit of 'Woman Bashing' in it...
The bizarre thing, is this is word for word EXACTLY like the man bashing thread happening on a mostly female board ;) I know of....
I am cracking up because both sides are saying the same things (just about)....Makes ya wonder.
Some folks so bitter their spit could melt lead. People have expectations that the others didn't know about. And it seems both thought that the relationship would just 'work' without work.
I don't have all the answers, but I do know that the only person that can make me happy is me.

If you want a relationship that will last you have to be willing to put your ego in the back seat. Most people are unwilling to, which is why most marriages fail today. Ive been married for 20 years to the best girl on the planet. We've had our share of fights but the reason we have lasted is that we try to please each other more than ourselves. I get more happiness doing something for my wife than I do myself, she reciprocates. Guess Im just lucky but of the people I know who have had long happy relationships this seems to be the case.

From the Lucid Moment Archives :
Was walking allong in a park on a Sunny day..passing an elderly couple seated on a park bench.
The elderly man looked at me..making eye contact...and some Jedi hand motion thingy ..blurted out,
"Neehh verrd ...ardgue..vith..the Vooo..man"!
So ya...this old **Veterans -comment has defintely affixed itself in my neuro pathways : )
The Bible says.."Wisdom will pass before you"..or something like that. : )

Jay Nordlinger, managing editor of National Review, recalls the formulation of the Democrats as the "mommy party" and the Republicans as the "daddy party"...I totally agree with this. I have thought this for a while now.

Security, perceived or real. All else is secondary, except for the fact that most of them lie about the primary.
