WILLIAMSPORT, Pa -- East Boynton Beach's Little League team is the best in America.
Today, the boys from South Florida will attempt to conquer the world.
Using home runs from four players and the wily pitching of Cody Emerson, East Boynton dismantled New England in the U.S. championship 9-2 Saturday.
"I can't even believe it," said East Boynton second baseman Devon Travis, who was 3 for 3 and had one of those home runs. "It feels good to be No. 1."
The win sets up today's World Series championship game with Japan.

To go to the National Championship the Boyton pitcher not only pitched a no-hitter (he throws a 78 MPH fastball), but he also hit a Grand Slam.
The World Championship is about to start...batter up boys!!!

Does this team have genetic freak 12 year-olds on it?

I saw him on TV....helluva pitcher for a 12 year old.
78mph at Little League distances is tough on the batter. I would imagine about like a major leaguer swiping at pitches in the mid 90s.

Actually worse...
A 78mph fastball travels the 45 feet to L.L. homeplate in about .4 seconds
A 90mph travels the 60 feet of M.L. in about .45
To: KayEyeDoubleDee
What's the score of the game ??
To: StatesEnemy
Thanks for clarifying.

I don't think so, even though one has to wonder about a 12 year-old throwing a 78 MPH fastball.

78 is 78 regardless of the distance.

He's having problems with change-ups early on, he needs to just start hitting those corners with his fastballs.
The Japanese pitcher is also throwing in the mid to high 70's.

Pitching is more art than brute strength. Orel Hersheiser had a great fastball, and he is skinner than a beanpole. Skill, not roids, still rules in the world of pitching.

There was an unbelieveable catch by the second baseman that any Major Leaguer would have been proud of.

You really could have put a spoiler alert in the headline instead of ruining it for people who have yet to see the feed on ABC... thanks!
