I am well aware of your arguments and "facts" but if even Bush and Rumsfeld aren't convinced by them, why should I?

Thank you for defending the troops and spreading the word, Peach.

I'm doing more e-mailing to groups outside FR. Until Americans start being vigilant - paying attention to the military experts and troops actually fighting the war, and questioning the press when the accounts are so different, the troops biggest foe will continue to be the PRESS - aiding our enemies and undermining our troops daily.

The left is nearly a big an enemy as the Rats themselves and seem to try to undermine America and our troops at every opportunity. Kudos to you for all your work and support. Freep regards, Peach

What makes you think that Bush and Rumsfeld aren't convinced of the arguments? Did you read yesterday's Weekly Standard which details the links between AQ/Iraq and WHY the administration is withholding information right now? THey are making sure that naysayers like you won't be able to nitpick everything and want to ensure that all the links and facts check out. That's called accountability.

Your statement mischaracterizes the facts and I've noticed it's something you do quite often. As well as change the subject when you can't answer the questions posed to you.

When you asked yesterday what Iraq had ever done to America, I posted many links to you. You never read read them, did you?

Perhaps I am to the right of you. Like Hayek, I distrust the conceit of master planners and international social engineers. I am not a blind believer in the the theory of the world policers that we can bring about the utopian miracle of creating a "democratic/unified" Iraq despite thousands of years of history and ethnic/religious hatreds which indicate otherwise.

I am realist, not a utopian, which puts me on the right, not on the pie-in-the-sky left. Back in 1998, when conservatives opposed the Kosovo war they agreed with me. Now they have become Wilsonians.

So the administration is withholding the information? Just like Starr withheld the "second part" of the Starr report I suppose. On this issue, I am from Missouri.

There you go again, Austin - changing the subject.

You claim that Rumsfeld and Bush are not sure of the Iraq and AQ links. I've referred you to link(s) which dispute that statement and you have no answer.

You have stated a few times you don't think Iraq ever did anything to the United States which warranted this war. I gave you SEVERAL links which would help dispel your misconceptions. You never read them, did you?

I want it from the horse's mouth not the Weakly Standard. According to the Weakly Standard, we were about to go up in smoke if we didn't invade Iraq NOW. Not exactly my idea of a reliable source.

Did you read the Weekly Standard article regarding this topic yesterday? Withhold is different from holding information to verify the facts on a complex matter. It's called accountability.

Your Starr analogy makes no sense and you are again changing the subject. It seems to be all you can do when you don't have facts to back up your statements.

As that article, and others have consistently stated, you'll get the information from the horses mouth when they've nailed the facts down. Accountability, remember?

Nothing will please you. You have a mind set and an agenda and anything that doesn't fit with that preconceived agenda seems to be "weak" as in your Weakly Standard reference.

And by the way, Austin, did you ever read those links I sent you yesterday about the connections between AQ and Iraq?

Your consistent position that there are no links between them mischaracterizes the facts on the ground.

Yeah right, we can build a "democratic and unitary state" in the medieval hell-hole. Tell me another one.

In Europe, democratic institutions did not spring into being fully-formed overnight like Athena out of the head of Zeus. This took many years, there were a lot of wars, a lot of blood was shed, a lot of people died in the process.

There are many difficulties ahead as Iraq moves toward some form of democratic society. There will be more violence. But progress is being made. It is a long-term project.

Austin wants information from the horses mouth. He doesn't remember the numerous press conferences and speeches before the UN, etc., which enumerated the links between AQ/Iraq and their WMD. That is information he disregards. My guess is there will never be enough proof for him.

I would like to suggest that the Iraqi War and subsequent occupation (YES I SAID IT!!) is an excellent tactic in the war on terrorism. If you are familiar with internet security concepts, there is the 'honeypot' defense.

In the honeypot defense mechanism there is a known vulnerability left open to attract hackers into a trap where their IP and ISP information is recorded along with the attacks they used to try to break in.

In a simliar manner, the Bush Administration after the 9/11 Attacks has taken the battle to the Arabs back yard. Taking over and occupying two of the Arabs sacred lands (which they in turn conquered from other people) forces them almost pathologically into Jihad to defend their sovereignty.

Thus every crazy and islamist jihaadist from every corner of the world becomes activated and goes on a pilgrimmage to commit jihaadcide against the turret of an m1 tank. This is much preferable to the alternative of having them flying aircraft into our buildings, or mailing out anthrax packets.

This also serves the purpose of whittling down the ranks of militant jihaadists from among the moderates in the muslim mosques. The muslims in the mosques should be policing their own ranks but they are either too lazy, indolent, complicit, cowardly or apathetic to do it for themselves. Those militant jihaadists need someone to help them to get into their bordello where they will find their 72 underage brides. And those muslims need someone to help them to possess the courage to stand up to the intimidation of their own militants.

Given the choices they gave us, we have little choice but to give them the assistance they so greatly desire, and which they so loudly requested.

Your post was exactly right. We can fight the war in terrorism in the middle east or the midwest. I'd far rather have the terrorists go after our well-trained, well armed soldiers than unarmed, unsuspecting civilians.
